Fordham University Application Process

The application process for graduate, undergraduate, and PhD programs is streamlined. There are two intakes for Fordham University, the Fall intake (January 3) and the Spring intake (November 1). The eligibility criteria are as follows:

Eligibility Criteria

1. Academic Requirements: Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent (such as a General Education Development (GED) certificate.

2. Grade Point Average (GPA): A minimum of 3.5 G.P.A. out of 4.

3. SAT/ACT courses: These are optional scores that students can submit if they feel it can strengthen their application.

4. English Proficiency (for International Students): non-native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency in English by submitting TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): Minimum score of 100 on the iBT or IELTS (International English Language Testing System): Minimum score of 7. Alternatively, if applicants have attended an English-speaking secondary school for at least two years, they may be exempt from this requirement.

5. Letters of Recommendation: Fordham requires two teacher recommendations and one counselor recommendation as part of the application. These should come from teachers who have taught you in core academic subjects (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, or Foreign Language). The counselor's recommendation should reflect your character, strengths, and academic potential.

6. Application Essays: Fordham requires applicants to submit a personal essay as part of the Common Application or Coalition Application. This essay gives the admissions committee insight into the applicant’s personality, interests, and reasons for choosing Fordham. Optional supplemental essays may be required based on the program or academic interest.

7. Extracurricular Activities: Fordham values a well-rounded applicant who demonstrates leadership, commitment, and involvement in extracurricular activities such as sports, clubs, volunteer work, internships, and other personal projects.

8. Application Fee: Fordham charges a non-refundable application fee (usually around $70), but fee waivers are available for eligible students.
