Huston-Tillotson University, Austin, TX, is a private, not-for-profit institution. Once known as Bluebonnet Hill, the university grounds carried a legacy as rich as its academic offerings. Samuel Huston College and Tillotson College merged in 1952, establishing the present-day institution.

Huston–Tillotson University Admissions Requirements

The HTU admissions process identifies students who are both academically prepared and motivated to contribute to campus life.

Undergraduate Admissions

Huston-Tillotson University welcomes talented high school graduates who are ready to shape their future with us. Here’s what you need to apply:

  • GPA Requirement: Minimum of 2.3 cumulative high school GPA.

  • Test Scores: ACT composite score of 16 or SAT score of 900 (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing + Mathematics)

  • Applications: Complete the online application via the HTU website. 

  • Transcripts: Submit official high school academic transcripts electronically via Parchment, SPEEDE, or through your school counselor.

  • Test Score Submission: Email your SAT and/or ACT scores to admissions@htu.edu 

  • FAFSA: Complete the free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and include HTU’s school code: 003577

Graduate Admissions

At HTU, our graduate programs are designed for individuals ready to take the next step in their careers. Below are the specific requirements:

  1. Pay a non-refundable $75 admission fee via check, money order, or credit card.

  2. Have official transcripts from all non-U.S. high schools and colleges/universities evaluated by a NACES-recognized service.
    High school records require a document-by-document evaluation.College/university records require a course-by-course evaluation.Accepted agencies include WES and SpanTran.

  3. Must have the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma.

  4. Submit official TOEFL scores if English is not the official language of your country.

  5. Submit a recent bank statement or letter (dated within 6 months) showing at least $25,000 USD in available funds.

  6. One semester's tuition and fees must be paid before the I-20 form will be issued.

  7. If you do not enroll, the university will refund your deposit minus a $200 administrative fee.
