Eligibility Requirements 

When you begin applying to Western Michigan University, there are requirements based on your academic standing that can affect your eligibility to apply.  

Undergraduate students: We are looking for a total GPA of 3.0 or higher in high school. WMU will allow all students to apply test-optional, but if you have an ACT or SAT score that can only enhance your application (and might be necessary for scholarships). 

Graduate students: We expect most graduate applicants to have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in their undergraduate program. Depending on the program and area of study, certain programs may have additional standards for the GRE or GMAT. 

Lastly, all international applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. This is a minimum score of 71 with TOEFL (iBT) or better, or an IELTS of 6.0 or better.
