Frequently Asked Questions

How do I secure my room?

PMG booking process couldn’t be easier. To get started, have your photo ID and proof of address to hand, and visit the webpage which is linked to your chosen location. You then follow the process of choosing and confirming your ideal arrangement. You will then have a chance to review all the details you have provided and to add any special arrangements or preferences you have, before everything is confirmed with a formal accommodation agreement. Students should note that a deposit may be taken to secure your room. Deposits will be held in an independent and Government-authorised deposit protection scheme (UK only) and will be returned when you move out – subject to any damages or cleaning fees which need to be deducted following completion of your tenancy.

Can I check the arrangement before confirming my room?

Absolutely! There is plenty of opportunity during the booking process to review and check through your arrangement and the contract relating to your accommodation. In fact, PMG urge you to keep checking and to be thorough!

Do I have to be a student to live in PMG accommodation?

Yes, PMG accommodation in each city is designed for full and part-time students only.

Can I secure an apartment with my friends?

Definitely! Once you have completed the booking process online, make sure to get in touch with them directly to outline your preference and to let them know who you want to room with. PMG aim when placing people together is always to match like minded people – considering your university, course, and age as well as any other special requests.

Can I secure a room for one term?

Generally PMG tenancies are for full years. If a shorter term agreement is something you are seeking or need to discuss, please get in touch with them directly to see if your needs can be accommodated.

How do I pay my rent?

Once your booking has been completed, PMG will send you an invitation email which will allow you to set up your rent payments. This information can then be found and accessed at any time in your personal portal on PMG website. All rent payments can be arranged in a number of ways to make budgeting as easy as possible for you. Some of PMG tenants pay a lump sum at the start of each term, while others pay in instalments – it is up to you to decide which works best for you. PMG advise residents to set up a local currency Direct Debit to avoid fees, remove the stress of payment deadlines and to ensure that you never miss a rent payment.

Are your rooms suitable for disabled access?

PMG apartments are built to be as inclusive and accessible as possible, with specific rooms and living arrangements designed to facilitate and support those with all manner of disabilities. PMG understand that finding the right accommodation can be daunting for those living with disabilities, so please get in touch so PMG can discuss your individual needs directly and make sure that all your needs are catered for.

Do I need a guarantor to secure a room?

A guarantor is the best way to protect your place with the property management if things get tough, especially if you are struggling to pay your rent. If you are paying in instalments, then PMG do ask that you provide a guarantor or appoint a Housing Hand as your guarantor. If you are paying your rent upfront in a single lump sum, a guarantor is not required.

Can I change my payment plan part way through my tenancy if something happens?

PMG are no stranger to bad days or tough months – they have all been there, and they have all wished that the person at the other end of the phone was a little more understanding. Because of this, and in an effort to make PMG agreements as flexible as possible for PMG residents and students, if something occurs – like an emergency payment you have to make elsewhere, or your student loan doesn’t arrive on time – simply get in touch to discuss the situation with them directly. PMG can then amend your payment plan if required, to help you out.

Can I sub-let my room?

No, this practice is banned for the duration of your tenancy.

Can I have visitors, and can they stay over?

Absolutely – university is a time for making new friends (and besides, PMG know you’ll want to show off your new home!). PMG do ask that those living in shared apartments or studios refrain from having more than one guest at any time, and that you keep overnight stays to a maximum of two nights per week. Visitors also need to sign in at reception and sign out when they leave, to assist them in the event of a fire evacuation. In addition, please note that PMG visitor policy can be amended at any time.

Can I keep a pet?

Sorry, PMG don’t allow pets in PMG accommodation unless they are approved assistance or disability dogs.

When can I move in?

Your move in date will be outlined in the agreement. PMG will also be in touch closer to the time to discuss the finer details and to make sure that you have everything you need.

When checking in PMG will need to see some form of photographic ID, such as a passport or driving licence.

How do I find out who I am living with?

In line with GDPR regulations PMG are unable to share names or contact details, however you will be given information on how to download and join the PMG app prior to arrival and move in day. This app will act as a form of networking platform prior to and during your tenancy.

What equipment is available in the gym and fitness studio?

PMG gyms typically contain all of your equipment that you would expect – including weight machines, cardiovascular machines, and free weights as well as mats for yoga and stretching. For a more detailed view of your chosen PMG accommodation, check out the accommodation photos.

What are the gym / fitness studio opening hours?

Opening hours vary by location, however they will open early in the morning and late into the night to ensure that you are able to keep fit as part of a routine that suits you.

Is there somewhere safe to park my car?

As part of PMG commitment to climate change and to reducing the CO2 output levels of PMG sites and PMG residents, PMG encourage students to use the local public transport network and to keep their cars outside of the city centres. Not only will this help reduce your own carbon footprint, but it will save you money in the long run.

Is there somewhere safe to store my bike?

Yes, all of PMG accommodation sites include bike storage as part of your facilities package! PMG do ask that you bring your own bike lock for optimum security.

If you have any issues, from broken doors to plumbing issues, lost keys, and issues with access, PMG maintenance team can be contacted via the PMG's app. This app also lets you track the status of any issue or request.

What kitchen equipment is supplied in the accommodation?

Before planning your trip to Ikea, incoming students should note that PMG kitchens include hobs, ovens, fridge-freezers, dishwashers, microwaves, kettles, and toasters. Any other cooking equipment you wish to use, as well as cutlery and crockery, will need to be supplied by yourself.
