Manchester enjoys excellent travel accessibility, making it a convenient and well-connected city for visitors. Within the city, an efficient public transportation system, including trams, buses, and commuter rail, provides convenient options for getting around. Manchester's compact size and pedestrian-friendly streets make it ideal for exploring on foot, with many popular attractions within walking distance of each other. 1. Bicycle
Cycling is probably the cheapest method of travel. Cycle paths are running across Manchester, particularly in student areas.
2. Bus
Manchester's buses are our students' favourite method of travel. Several bus companies in the city compete for passengers, which means tickets are very cheap. The buses run every ten minutes throughout the day, Monday to Friday, between 7.15 am and 6.15 pm. A single journey costs £1.50 (outside of the Sackville Street and Oxford Road campus zone). It is £4.00 for a day ticket valid for use on all Magic Bus services, and Stagecoach also offers a 7-day ticket for Magic bus services which is £8.20, and an annual bus pass designed to offer discounted bus travel to University students.
3. Train
Manchester has two main train stations: Piccadilly and Victoria. There are also other smaller stations within the city center, including Manchester Oxford Road, which is just a ten-minute walk away from both the Oxford Road and Sackville Street areas of the campus. There are numerous bus links between stations, some of which are free.
4. Tram
Manchester's tram service runs frequent services to Altrincham, Eccles, Bury, and Rochdale. East Didsbury and Ashton-Under-Lyne. It also runs a service to the Trafford Centre and The Lowry.
