Private university Cambridge College is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1971, Eileen Moran Brown and Joan Goldsmith founded Cambridge College as an innovative graduate programme under the Institute of Open Education (IOE), which John Bremer had just established at Newton College of the Sacred Heart. For instance, individual attention was given to students in educational programmes through evaluations of videotaped student performance in the workplace. Within two years, Brown and Goldsmith had taken over leadership of the IOE, and they later partnered it with Antioch College, where Brown was appointed dean. The graduate programme was elevated to an autonomous, fully accredited university known as Cambridge College by Brown in 1979 after an 18-month procedure.
