Because of the city's well-connected transit system, mobility and travel are highly convenient for Edinburgh students. The town is well-known for its transportation options, which include buses, trams, and bike rentals. To make commuting in the town a breeze, transport cards such as Ridacard may be purchased, making it a cost-effective method to move around the city, particularly for students
1. Bus
The bus is the most common mode of transportation in Edinburgh. Lothian buses are Edinburgh's primary bus service.
2. Trams
The tram system has a line that runs from Edinburgh Airport in the west of the city to York Place in the city's East End. It was later extended down Leith Walk to Ocean Terminal and terminated at Newhaven, with eight new tram stations added.
3. Railway
Edinburgh Park station serves the Gyle business park in the city's west and the Royal Bank of Scotland's Gogarburn headquarters. The Edinburgh Crossrail line connects Edinburgh Park to Haymarket, Edinburgh Waverley, and the east-side suburban stations at Brunstane and Newcraighall. There are other commuter routes to Edinburgh Gateway, South Gyle, and Dalmeny, with the latter serving South Queensferry through the Forth Bridges and Wester Hailes and Curriehill in the city's southwest.
4. Bikes
Some students also prefer to rent a bike for their commute. Not only is this option a lot more convenient, it is also cost-effective. Additionally, most UK student accommodation options and universities offer safe and secure bike storage spaces as well.
