El Camino College is a two-year public community college in Alondra Park, an unincorporated Los Angeles County town. It consists of 37 buildings scattered over approximately 26 acres. It is one of two community colleges in Southern California that serve the South Bay area. On July 1, 1947, the El Camino Community College District was officially created. As of 2019, the El Camino Community College District included the communities of Alondra Park, Carson, Del Aire, El Segundo, Gardena, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Ladera Heights, Lawndale, Lennox, Lomita, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, and View Park-Windsor Hills.
The college enrols about 33,000 students each semester. It boasts a curriculum of about 200 degree and certificate programs taught by exceptional faculty in an environment that supports equity and student success, many available in online and televised formats for distance education. The notable graduates are Antonio Chatman, Alan Jardine, Clara Lee, Denny Hocking, Flo Hyman, Jason Farol, Keith Erickson, Michael Fincke, Therese Murray, and many others. Since the 1970s, the college campus has been used as a filming setting for films like The Dark Knight Rises, Crime After Crime, The Circle, and others. They are ranked #7602 in the world.
