Although the Institute of Technology Dublin was founded in 1887 with the creation of technical education in Ireland, it was not until 1992 that it was constituted as an autonomous institution under the DIT Act. The Dublin Institute of Technology Dublin was established by the DIT Act of 1992, which brought together six higher education institutions that were originally part of the City of Dublin Vocational Educational Committee. The Dublin Institute of Technology combined with the Institute of Technology, Tallaght, and the Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown, in 2019 to become the Dublin Institute of Technology University. It currently goes by the name Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin), and it continues to meet the social, cultural, and academic demands of Ireland in the twenty-first century. Being a contemporary institution, it lays a lot of emphasis on providing hands-on, practical instruction that is tailored to match business demands. Its colleges of arts, tourism, business, engineering & the built environment, sciences and health provide around 150 degree programmes at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
