Liverpool John Moores University, also known as LJMU, is a public research institution. It began in 1823 with the establishment of Liverpool Mechanics' School of Arts. Liverpool Polytechnic later replaced the school. It was granted university status in 1992, changing its name to Liverpool John Moores University. Notably, the university holds memberships in the European University Association, University Alliance, and the Northern Consortium.
The institution, which has three campuses—City Campus, I M Marsh Campus, and Mount Pleasant Campus—is located in Liverpool, England. Some of the most important structures and divisions can be found on the city campus. On the Mount Pleasant Campus lies the Faculty of Law and Business. The faculty of Community, Education, and Leisure is housed in the I M Marsh Campus, which is in Aigburth. Modern amenities are available on each of the three sites.
Through its five faculties, it provides education. The institution, which is the 35th largest university in the nation by total student population, welcomed more than 22,400 students in 2016–17, of which over 18,300 were undergraduate students and more than 4,000 were postgraduate students. Additionally, it offers a vibrant community of more than 23,000 students from more than 100 different nations. Additionally, students are given the opportunity to learn under the supervision of 2,400 staff members.
