For students who live outside of the city limits or who simply wish to get around and experience it, there are a variety of transportation alternatives available. Finding student accommodation close to your university will reduce your travel expenses and commute time, but there are frequent student discounts available for bus and train passes as well that students can take advantage of.
Bus: First, Stagecoach, City Bus, and McGill's Bus Services are some of the main bus companies that operate around the city. On the bus, tickets can be purchased, or students can purchase a ZoneCard to use on a variety of transportation options.
Train: In order to escape on-street traffic, the subway provides a speedy option to get about the city. The metro system in the city has 15 stops along a single circular circuit and is the third-oldest subterranean railway in the world.
Cycling: Students can even cycle to the university campus, as there is a facility for bikes to rent, on a daily basis. Be sure that your accommodation is at a convenient location to use this mode of transport.
