Torrens University is a public research university based in Adelaide, South Australia. The university has four campuses, three in South Australia and one in Melbourne, Victoria.
Established in 1874, it is the third-oldest university in Australia. From its origin, the university has been at the forefront of delivering excellence in learning and teaching. The University comprises five faculties, each containing constituent schools. These include the Faculty of Engineering, Computer, and Mathematical Sciences (ECMS), the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Professions, and the Faculty of Sciences. The university is known for its research-intensive programmes, securing over $180 million in research funding annually.
Various undergraduate majors and graduate disciplines are available in hundreds of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, plus doctoral levels and exchange study opportunities. These courses are broadly divided into sub-division buildings of the main campus where students can study numerous courses, including chemistry, engineering, architecture, language, computer science, and law. The university currently has 23,023 students and 3,457 faculty members. The university holds an impressive 1:21 staff-to-student ratio, thus keeping the right balance between the number of students and faculty.
