Brisbane connects regional, national, and international destinations via a robust transportation system. Private vehicles are the most popular mode of transportation in Sydney, as in many other Australian cities. Public transportation includes boat, bus, and rail services. With a standardised ticketing and electronic payment system (known as a "go card"), TransLink provides service to South East Queensland.
With a focus on the Roma Street, Central, and Fortitude Valley railway stations, the CBD is the hub for all public transit services. King George Square, Queen Street, Roma Street bus terminals, North Quay, Riverside, and QUT Gardens Point have boat wharves. All of Brisbane's major student housing complexes are quickly accessible via the transportation systems in the city.
1. Bus: The Brisbane Busway network, a sizable dedicated bus rapid transit network, is available in Brisbane. Major network hubs are the busway stations on King George Square, Queen Street, and Roma Street. Adult fares start at AU$4.80 on average but grow to AU$8.00 as distance increases.
2. Rail: The Brisbane metropolitan region is served by 152 railway stations that are part of the Queensland Rail City network. These stations are spread over 13 suburban rail lines, including the Airport, Beenleigh, Caboolture, Cleveland, Doomben, Exhibition, etc. Train fares range from AU$90 to AU$170 for a single day.
3. Cycling: Students might find it quite easy to travel from their accommodation to the campus by cycling as the streets of Brisbane are quite cycle-friendly with cycling paths. Students can check out the bike or cycle rental services in the area if they don’t have a cycle of their own.
