Who is eligible to book?

To book with them, you must be a new student and must turn 18 before your tenancy start date.

What is a guarantor? What happens if I don't have one?

A guarantor is a person aged over 21 (usually a parent or guardian) who is happy to be financially responsible for you if you are not able to make payment.
They do not run credit checks on guarantors, but they must provide two forms of ID and be able to provide an email address. For international students, the guarantor can be from overseas if the payment is made in full. If a UK guarantor is provided, then you are able to pay in instalments.
If you cannot find a person to act as a guarantor, then they work with a company called Housing Hand who can act as a guarantor for a fee.

I haven't moved in yet, can I change my room?

If you would like to change your room, then that is fine if  they  have the availability. If you have accepted your room offer and completed your booking, they may still be able to accommodate your request, just get in touch. They will need to withdraw your current room offer and your guarantor will need to reaccept your room offer this does not incur any costs.

What happens if my loan doesn't get paid on time, and I can't make the payment before the due date?

If you choose to pay in instalments, then you are still responsible for making the payments on time in accordance with the contract. If you are experiencing payment issues, the best thing to do is to let them know as soon as possible so that  they can find the best way to support you.

Can I live with property after my first year?

This is your home and you can live with  them  throughout your studies. They have lots of happy students who choose to rebook with them each year. When you rebook, you are rewarded with lots of perks such as early access to rooms, discounts, freebies, and more. If you'd like to stay again, then just register your interest with them once you're moved in.

Can I live with my friends?

If you would like to live with friends who have already moved in, then it is important that you let them know as early as possible so that  they can try to accommodate your request its all subject to availability.

What is the check-in process?

Prior to your arrival, you will need to complete an online e-induction where you can select a check in appointment. Your tenancy start date can be found on your contract; you are welcome to move in at any point after this date.
The format of the check in process will be dependent on social restrictions at the time, and students will be notified by email closer to the time.

Can I move in early?

If you would like to move in prior to your tenancy start date, then please get in touch with the accommodation team so that they can arrange this for you. Please be aware that this will be charged at an additional rate.
If you are travelling from a country on the Amber List then their Free Early Arrival policy will apply and you can move in 10 days prior to your contract start date at no extra cost.

Is there parking available during check-in?

There is plenty of parking available so you don’t need to worry about finding a space to unload your belongings. 

How do I find out who my flatmates are?

Make sure you join their resident Facebook group to meet your housemates, find out Freshers plans, and to keep up with all of the latest updates.

How will I meet people?

Right from the start  they host events to help you to meet people. From  their  welcome party to movie nights to charity walks you'll make friends in no time.

When are my instalments due?

Your rent is paid as three instalments spread out across the year to make it more manageable for you, these usually coincide with student finance payments and are in September, January, and May. There is also a deposit of GBP 100 and a pre-rent instalment to pay in August, the exact date can be found on your statement.
The pre-rent instalment covers you from the date that you move in, until the first rent instalment is due at the end of September.

What is included in my annual rent?

Your rent includes utility bills such as water and heating, 100mb broadband and WiFi, gym membership, contents insurance, and access to events.
The laundry room is an additional facility and costs £2.80 per wash, and £1.60 per dry*.
You will also need to pay for a TV license if you want one. A TV license is required for each student room. If you are only using streaming services such as Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime then you do not need to purchase a TV license.
*prices are dependent on year.

What happens if there is a problem with my room?

You will be required to complete an inventory form when you move into your accommodation so that  they  are notified of any existing issues with your room.

Do the kitchens come with?

The kitchen in your flat will come with cooker, hob, kettle, fridge/freezer, and microwave. Depending on the room type, it will also come with a sofa and breakfast bar, dining table, or separate lounge and kitchen area.

What do the bedrooms come with?

Your bedroom will come with a single bed (including mattress), a desk with drawers, desk chair, wardrobe, shelving and vanity sink.
Bedrooms are non-ensuite so you will share a bathroom and WC with 5-7 other students.

Can I decorate my room?

Of course! They would encourage you to make your room your own. However, there are things that you cannot do such as sticking Sellotape or Blu Tack on the walls or using nails and drawing pins.

Can I bring my pets?

Unfortunately not, but  they  do have therapy dogs that visit them every now and again for students who miss their pets.

Do I need to take out contents insurance?

They provide free contents insurance through Endsleigh. This is basic cover and if you have expensive equipment then you might need to upgrade.

Do I have to be home by a certain time each night?

No its up to you what time you get back. If you get back late then please be respectful of your flatmates and keep noise to a minimum.
If you are out late then make sure that you are street safe.

Do I need to move their for the holidays?

No. Your room is yours for the entire length of your contract. That means that you don't have to move out for Christmas, Easter, or any other holiday. You can even stay with them for Summer if you want to (this will be charged at  their  Summer rates).

Can I stay after my first year?

This is your home and we think that you should be able to leave when you are ready. We hope that you will love your time with us and we’d encourage you and your friends to stay with us throughout your time at university. When you rebook with us you’ll be rewarded with the best price of the year, early access to room and lots of other perks.

Can I bring my car?

Free parking is available for students living at the accommodation. However, please be aware that these are not designated spaces and cannot guarantee you a space during peak times such as weekends.

Guaranteed parking spaces can be secured at an additional cost of GBP 400 for new students.

Is bedding provided?

As standard they do not provide bedding. However, their partnership with Uni-Kit Out offers residents 10% off of their bedding and kitchen packs.

If you are an EU or International student, then they will provide a free bedding pack on arrival.

Is property wheelchair friendly?

We have wheelchair accessible rooms available in our Classic Ensuite and Sociable style room types.

The Venue, our on-site bar and restaurant, is also accessible and we have low level washers and dryers in our on-site launderette. All of our buses are accessible and run from Storthes Hall Park to the University of Huddersfield regularly throughout the day.

Can I live with accommodation if I am doing an internship or placement year?

Absolutely! If you are a registered student then you can live with accommodation.
