Shafston provides high quality student accommodation in the river-city suburb of Kangaroo Point.

The property is conveniently located adjacent to Shafston College and is only 3.5kms away from the Queensland University of Technology Gardens Point Campus and a short CityCat ferry ride to the heart of Brisbane CBD.  A wide range of public transport options are on the propertys doorstep which gives residents convenient access to almost all of Brisbane.

The free Cityhopper Ferry runs every 30 mins from  nearby Dockside and Thornton Street Ferry terminals, to the City & South Bank. QUT is just a short walk over the Goodwill Bridge from the Maritime Museum terminal just 2 stops from Thornton Street. Alternatively the CityCat Ferry departing from nearby Mowbray Park Terminal runs directly to the QUT Gardens Point Ferry Terminal.

Shafston is a 12 storey building with secure swipe card access to individual floors featuring 170 individual studio apartments. Whilst the majority of our accommodation operates under a 6 or 12 month lease, we do have a small number of rooms that are available in twin-share or triple share for short term accommodation.  These shorter term options are ideal for those completing intensive English language courses or undertaking a research project at one of Brisbanes Universities. Each apartment has its own bathroom and kitchenette and their layout makes all rooms suitable for individuals, couples or friends wishing to share. All of the apartments are fully furnished and equipped for student living. Other apartment features include free WiFi internet (8 GB per port most rooms have 2 ports), river and city views, some with balconies, and air-conditioning.

The property also boasts a caf on the ground floor, a large modern residents gym, and a residents common area which includes a large screen TV. Students love living here!

Studio Type F units are a large studio with views of the Brisbane River. These apartments are equipped with a Queen size bed and are a great option for the independent student or a couple. They are equipped with Air conditioning, a kitchenette, private ensuite bathroom, large study area with comfortable seating, dining facilities, high speed internet and a wall-mounted TV for added comfort. Being so close to the river you can even skip the traffic with the CityHopper Ferry making travel to the City and Southbank a breeze. No. There are no application fees.


Do I need a mattress protector?

Yes, these are charged at $15 per single and $20 per queen bed.


How much is the Internet / WIFI? Who is the provider and how much bandwidth do I have

Internet access and WIFI is provided by 3Play and 8Gb of WIFI is included per port or 16 Gb per room in your rent.


What electricity cost am I responsible for?

Electricity costs are included in the rent and payable by the landlord.


If I wanted to break my lease, what are the costs associated with this?

The cost is 2 weeks rent plus costs until the apartment is leased again.


Do I need to pay a departure clean fee?

The cost to clean a room at the end of a lease is $199 which includes a carpet steam clean, replacement of shower screen and mattress protector. For short term leases, there is a $50 departure clean fee.


Are car parking spaces available?

Yes there are 16 car parking spaces available which are free upon successful application. There are also free bike spaces.


Is there a cancellation fee once I have secured an apartment?

Yes there is a cancellation fee of 2 weeks rent.


Is an advanced rental payment required?

Yes. To secure an apartment, the Tenant must pay two weeks advanced rent and a Bond of 4 weeks rent on arrival.


What do I do if I, or my family need somewhere to stay prior to checking into UniLodge?
