As part of Melbourne Polytechnics Fairfield campus, getting to class from your student accommodation Yarra House is as easy as walking out your front door. On weekends, spend a lazy afternoon at Fairfield Park Boathouse, floating down river in a vintage rowboat or feasting on sumptuous cream cakes in the Tea Gardens. Admire spectacular city views whilst hiking Yarra Bend Parks scenic trails, get your gourmet coffee fix at Apte, a caf that doubles as an art gallery, or catch a play at renovated warehouse venue The Theatre Husk.
After a busy day, come home to your room at Yarra House for a well-earned rest. Stop to greet your friends on your way through the lobby lounge, then push open the door to your apartment and set your bags down on the bed. Grab a drink from the bar fridge and enjoy it out on the balcony, before switching on the aircon and settling down to study at your desk. Use the high speed internet to research your assignments; or brainstorm a group project in the communal study areas.
With work out the way, drop your clothes off at the laundry, before heading to the games room to catch up with your friends. Try your hand at table tennis, get caught up in a pool tournament, or simply kick back and relax on the comfy couches. Later, whip up something tasty for dinner in the newly refurbished communal kitchens, or get together with neighbours around the garden barbecue and eat out under the stars. For a fun night out in the neighbourhood, head for the nearby Grandview Hotel for a karaoke session.

What happens if i lose my key?
It's important to make sure that you always know where your keys are. If you do misplace your room key, please note that there is a $330 cost to replace your bedroom door lock and key. This cost will be placed directly onto your account. If you have lost your swipe card, a temporary card can be provided during reception hours for a 1 hour period free of charge. Please note a $20 lost swipe key charge will be added to your account if the card is not returned during this time. If you are locked out after hours, either call the after hours number or press the red button on one of the blue communication poles in the village to call the duty manager/security. A $10 fee is placed on your account for lockouts after-hours. This must be paid within a week and we donate all lockout fees to a charity of your choice
Is there access to public transportation?
There easy access to bus routes which run all over Sydney. There are express buses which run directly from the university to the city only a short 2 minute walk from the village; and, there is quick access to buses running to Coogee beach and Bondi Junction. Am i able to leave my belongings in my room before my contract starts?
You will not be able to access your room or leave any belongings in the village before your contract starts.
Do i need to bring kitchen utilities, such as a kettle or toaster, with me?
The kitchens are already kitted out with basic amenities, such as the fridge and the microwave. However, you will need to supply your own utilities such as a toaster, kettle, and sandwich press for example. If you live in shared accommodation, you can always wait until you meet your roommates to organise a group shop to figure out what everyone has brought along with them.
Is the village secure?
The village is A+ security with a staff member or resident assistant on duty at all times in case of an emergency.

What is the security deposit?
If you receive an offer of accommodation from the Village, a refundable security deposit equivalent to 4 weeks rent is payable by you to confirm your accommodation.
Can I have visitors?
They understand that sometimes partners, friends or parents may want to visit. While Village management doesnt encourage overnight guests, they understand that sometimes this might come up. You can have guests stay for short periods of time as long as the other residents of the Apartment agree. For the safety and comfort of their residents however, extended visits are not allowed.
Can I bring my pet?
As much as they love animals, unfortunately, they cant allow pets or animal visitors of any kind (including fish, rodents, insects or reptiles). A guide or hearing dog is the only exception to this rule.
Can I live with my friends?
They like to accommodate their residents as much as possible and want them to have the best time during their stay. So although they cant guarantee anything, if you specify in your application that you wish to share with specific roommates, they will do their best to put you together.
Does my room have a window?
Yes, all rooms have windows. There are no window-less dungeons here!
