Most Indian students looking to study in the UK like to scout for financial aid and scholarship opportunities. Pursuing your higher education in the UK can prove an expensive affair. Thus, Indian students would like to receive any financial aid even if it does not fully fund their higher education.

1. Sikh Education Fund

The Sikh Education Fund is a financial aid mainly for Sikh students to study globally and ranges anywhere between 400 GBP – 3000 GBP. They offer several opportunities like grants endowments, scholarships, and interest-free loans, which are expected to be repaid post the student’s graduation. 

They mainly work on a non-profit model, where the repaid amount is then invested back into the fund and is used for future grants. This is primarily for students looking to study in USA and UK. 2. K.C. Mahindra Scholarships for Post-Graduate Studies Abroad

Every year, the K.C. Mahindra Education Trust grants interest-free loan scholarships to deserving students provided they possess a First-Class Degree or equivalent diploma from a recognized university. A maximum of INR 8 lakhs are given per scholar to the top 3 K.C. 

Mahindra fellows and a maximum of INR 4 lakhs are given to the rest of the successful applicants. Applicants must be Indian candidates who have secured admission or applied for admission in reputable foreign universities from August 2022 to February 2023. This scholarship is not used for students looking to study undergraduate courses or seminars and conferences.

3. National Overseas Scholarship Scheme

This scholarship award has been designed for 100 students coming from a low-income background belonging to Scheduled Castes (90), Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (6), Landless Agricultural Labourers, and Traditional Artisans (4) to help them improve their economic status by pursuing their education abroad. 

30% of these scholarship awards have been allocated to women candidates. This scheme does not apply to students looking to pursue an undergraduate degree abroad or already pursuing a degree abroad.

4. J.N. Tata Endowment (Loan Scholarship) 

Another great UK scholarship for Indian students is this one-time loan scholarship given by the J.N. Tata Endowment for the Higher Education of Indians, which applies to Indian students looking to pursue a post-graduate degree or above. The scholarship amount can range from INR 1,00,000 – INR 10,00,000. 

The loan scholarships require students to be academically sound with an average score of 60% in their undergraduate or post-graduate studies, depending on the course they are applying for. 

It is also vital to understand that only students who have pursued their undergraduate degrees from recognized universities in India can apply. Students who are also looking to apply for the J.N. Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship must remember that the Statement of Purpose is given prime importance along with a good GRE/GMAT/TOEFL/IELTS score. 

5. Narotam Sekhsaria Scholarship 

The Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation, under its Scholarship Programme, awards interest-free loan scholarships to Indian students with a consistently good academic record. This has been specifically designed for students seeking a post-graduate degree within or outside India. 

The scholarship amount (up to a maximum of INR 20 lakhs) is decided as per the assessment of the Foundation. Students below 30 years as of 31 January 2022 can apply for the scholarship. They are also required to have completed their undergraduate degree from an accredited Indian university.
