1. Evaluate your expectations

Decide on the colleges from which you want to pursue your MBA. Make a list of exams that you have to appear in to get to that college.

Once you have decided on the college and exams, search for the timeline of applying. Also, be careful that you have to fill separate forms and pay fees separately in some cases involving the college and exam. There are also specific guidelines. 

The format for applying to all IIMs and for the CAT exam is the same. The form is out by August- September and is usually there till the first week of October. For all other colleges that accept the CAT exam, you have to apply for them separately. For other exams such as XAT, NMAT, SNAP, the application usually starts late October until mid-December.

3. Fill the application form

To fill in the application form, the candidate must first register using the phone number and email ID. It is advised that candidates keep their records such as mark sheets, passport photos, and identity proof scanned as they will be required to fill your form. Some forms only need your details, and some require details about your awards and statement of purpose and personal information.

After completing your form, you are successfully registered. You have to know how to prepare and sit for your entrance exam. Once your entrance test is done and the results are out, the colleges you have applied to will release a cut-off as per the marks scored by students who have used them. If you match the cut-off, you will be called for the second stage of registration.

In the Second Stage, the candidates have to answer various subjective questions about themselves, why the program, and why the college. Candidates’ interests and goals after completing the program. And along with it, candidates have to book the slot for a personal interview and other activities if an option is provided. In some cases, the colleges themselves allot a space.

5. Interview

The next stage is the personal interview and group discussion or case analysis activity. The whole process usually takes 2-3 hours. Interview time 15-30 mins and group activity time 30-40 minutes. The candidates are grilled by the interviewer over past activities, initiatives, academics, current affairs. 

They test how involved the candidate is and what is your ability to handle stress. The more candid you are in the activity, the more likely it is that you will get selected. After the interview process for all candidates is done, the college sends offer letters to potential and capable candidates who are the best fit for their institute. The candidate has to accept or reject the offer within two weeks usually. And this is very much about the admissions in India.
