In the Earth Summit 1992, it was proposed to celebrate world ocean day on 8 June, and established in 2008 to save ocean water from pollution.
Every year, the world celebrates international ocean day to increase awareness of the human actions that impact the Oceans!
To celebrate world ocean day, several initiatives have been taken. Here are 5 ways how you can contribute to this celebration.
Many organisations arrange ocean-clean drives where one can participate and help de-litter the ocean.
Many lakes, rivers, and seas open into oceans as they are connected water bodies. If these are littered, it will indirectly leave an impact, so try not to litter.
Consuming a large amount of seafood causes stress on marine resources. Give the ocean a break for one day and encourage consuming vegetarian food.
Plastic pollution continues to be one of the major threats to the ocean. You can reduce the use of plastics to help decrease the pollution.
Most of the chemicals used at homes or even factories are let out in the oceans polluting the water bodies and endangering marine life! Try to use organic products.
