Delayed Arrivals & travel restrictions

Students are expected to occupy their rooms by the end of University Induction Week unless prior arrangements have been made. Failure to occupy the room without prior approval results in the student remaining liable under the contract until the room is re-let.

Replacement Tenant Accepted

The student must find an approved replacement who is a full-time University student not currently resident in University or partner/nominated accommodation, acceptable to the Accommodation Hub/University. The replacement must accept a Residence contract and agree to pay the remaining Licence Fee for the remainder of the Licence Period. The student may not sub-let the room or allow it to be used by another person in their absence. Liability for the Licence Fee continues until the Accommo

Deferring Studies

Students whose studies are suspended or intercalated for more than one calendar month may request termination. A 28-day notice period applies. Licence fees continue until the notice period ends and keys are returned. The University may reimburse some or all licence fees in exceptional circumstances at its discretion.

Additional Fees

A £37.50 room transfer fee applies when transferring rooms at the student's request. A £25 charge applies for room swaps within the property to cover additional cleaning costs.

Booking Deposit

A deposit is not required to book a room in University-arranged accommodation. Please note -  you may need to pay a deposit for private halls of residence.

Guarantor Requirement

No. If you're staying in the residence, you won't need to pay a deposit or provide a guarantor. This is the case for Home and International students at any level of study and for any booking type.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 2 pm. Check-out is by 10 am on the day of departure.

Do I need a TV licence in university accommodation?

Yes. If planning to watch live TV or use BBC iPlayer in the room, a TV Licence is required.

Can I move into the accommodation earlier than the move-in date?

Early arrivals are not guaranteed. Students who need to discuss options should get in touch beforehand.

Can I bring my own furniture to university accommodation?

Rooms are fully furnished, so additional furniture is not permitted. Small personal touches, such as lamps or rugs, are fine.

Are towels and toiletries provided in university accommodation?

No. Towels should be brought along. As for toiletries, most can be bought on arrival, so only the essentials need to be packed.

What do I need to bring for the kitchen in the accommodation?

Cooking facilities (cooker, microwave, toaster) and fridge and freezer space are provided. Residents should bring plates, glasses, mugs, cutlery, pans, utensils and anything else needed for cooking.
