In the recent Canada latest news for international students the recent visa policy shifts made by the Canadian government have significantly impacted international students around the world. These changes may include capping student numbers, discontinuation of public-private college partnerships, and altering spousal open work visas. These shifts have triggered a notable decline in the number of students perceiving Canada as a student destination, as reported by the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

India, being one of the biggest sources for international students, has also shown a sharp decline in the number of students enrolling for the IELTS exam for Canada. This data is coming from the largest IELTS centres and consultancy firm, Jain Overseas in Jalandhar. Sumit Jain from Jain Overseas has cited a drastic 50% drop in the student enrollment number due to the current Canada student visa policy shifts. Canada remains an attractive study destination for students around the world due to its streamlined processes and educational prowess. Although,  the necessity for students to prioritize their education and choose reputable public colleges for sustainable career development, as Canada now favors skilled individuals over unskilled ones, prompting such policy alterations.

In recent updates regarding IELTS for Canada, Sunil Kumar Vashisth, the Associate Director of Pyramid e-Services, an overseas education consultancy in Jalandhar, has noted a decrease of approximately 25-30% in student numbers. He has emphasized that the decrease is because of the governmental policy reforms. Consultant and IELTS trainer at i-Can Consultancy in Kapurthala has reported a staggering 50% decrease in the number of students applying for Canadian universities after the policy change. The students are exploring multiple options before committing to oversears education in a specific country.
