In recent Chinese student news, Chinese international students in France have grown at a positive rate in subjects such as business, science, and engineering from 2019 to 2023.

A report released by an education consultancy company, EIC Education Group earlier this December revealed that the total number of Chinese international students opting for business majors has increased from 64.7% in 2019 to 76 % in 2023. The trend has been noticed in other subjects, too, where Science and Engineering majors now account for 7.8%.

Data also revealed that 80% of Chinese international students in France opted for a master’s program. Out of these students, 67% of them applied for business programs in universities in France for international students, such as Emlyon Business School, which received the most number of Chinese applicants.

The report goes ahead and states in this Chinese student news that those who graduated from business and engineering programs found it easier to find employment after graduation.

In the academic year 21/22, the total number of students from abroad present in universities in France for international students ranged around 400,000. This number was an 8% increase from the previous year, the highest increase the country has seen in 15 years. Unsurprisingly, out of these 400,000, Chinese international students accounted for about 27,500, making up 7% of the entire international student population. Interestingly, out of these 27,500, about 10,115 went to business schools, 2,934 went to engineering universities, and 1,836 pursued doctorates.

For your reference, the other top sources countries for international students in France include:

  1. Italy
  2. Senegal
  3. Tunisia
  4. Spain
  5. Ivory Coast
  6. Lebanon
  7. Cameroon

Chinese students are now growingly opting to branch out and study abroad in almost every corner of the world. This will not only help many host countries build a multicultural outlook towards their daily lifestyle but also prompt other nationalities to make a career out of their nation.
