2024 begins with hopes for a comfortable living for international students in Ireland. Each year, 33K+ students flock to Ireland for higher education, like the University of Galway.  But, this has led to a very serious crunch in student accommodation in the entire country. Looking at the concerns of the universities and students alike for affordable student accommodation in Ireland, the government has stepped in with a fast-track plan of action.

According to the latest news Ireland, the HEA and Further & Higher Education Minister (HEA) have asked all the Technological Universities to keep the plans for student accommodation ready. The universities and colleges have been asked to plan the requirements of the student residences for the future. The step is part of a feasibility study, which is supposed to analyse the upcoming demand for the future.

The higher education institutions are urged to submit their plan as early as March 15th, 2024. The venture by the government is being applauded for its fresh approach. The government has already completed the data analysis of the colleges and universities in phase one. The second phase will include the universities submitting their proposals for the requirements according to student news. The proposals from universities will help the government know about the universities that need funds for the development of student accommodation in Ireland for their students.

The options for PBSA Ireland or the purpose-built student accommodation in Dublin and major college towns and cities like student accommodation in Galway have been facing the brunt of the crunch. According to the latest news Ireland, Higher Education Authority (HEA) and Simon Harris, the Further and Higher Education Minister, contacted the college presidents for quick action.

According to the Student News Ireland, Mr Harris said, “The long-term vision is to ensure that availability of accommodation does not act as a barrier to accessing higher education.” The move is in favour of everyone, starting with the colleges and students. The universities get the required support from the government, and a foundational solution can be in place for the students.

Ireland is one of the top destinations for international students across the globe. The corridors of the red-brick universities set in the panoramic nature make it all the more appealing for students. The opportunities are endless for churning income by entering the PBSA market in Ireland. Ireland is currently attracting appreciable investments from real estate investment firms and agencies. The current move of seeking proposals for PBSA requirements alongside a phased data-gathering mechanism provides a great peek into the future.
