Survey Reveals Strong Global Interest in Studying in France for International Students
European News
In a new survey by Study.eu, about 1,015 international students strongly indicated that they want to study in France. The France education news states that an impressive 79% of respondents have chosen the country as their preferred destination for education. This is because of the outstanding quality of education for international students in France.
According to EuroWeekly, Paris emerged as the frontrunner among the preferred cities, with 71% selecting it as the top choice to study in France for international students. It is followed by Bordeaux and Marseille. The France education news tells that this allure extends beyond academic excellence, as 57% of respondents highlighted the promising career prospects as a significant pull factor to study in France for international students.
The Pie News states that the rich French culture also played a notable role for students aspiring to study in France. 33% expressed a desire to immerse themselves in the cultural tapestry of the EU's second most populous country. Additionally, a majority (66%) of international students in France foresee work opportunities, indicating a strong inclination towards gaining practical experience through part-time employment.
When it comes to financing their education, self-funding and support from family, around 44% emerged as the most common sources of financial backing, surpassing scholarships. Interestingly, 11% of respondents indicated a willingness to take out loans to cover their educational expenses, demonstrating the dedication of these prospective students to pursue their academic goals.
The CEO of Study.eu, Gerrit Bruno Blöss, says, “In the global competition for talent, the exceptional qualities of a French education are a great way to attract smart minds. And the fact that a large share of students wants to work part-time while they study is a chance to successfully integrate them in the French labour market before graduation. Quality of education is generally the most important motivator for degree-seeking students, but we were surprised to see it that far ahead of other factors.”
In 2022, many more students from other countries came to study in France, reaching over 400,000. This marks the highest growth in 15 years, making France the sixth most popular destination globally. Blöss also says that this is “strong and closely associated with quality education”.
“At the moment, it’s the business schools that invest the most in marketing and recruitment,” he told The PIE. He also pointed out that if UK universities focus on Francophone Africa as a new market, French schools might face more competition. As global competition for talent intensifies, the survey suggests that France's education system remains a potent magnet for international students.
