The UCAS Hub to Provide Top-Notch Apprenticeship opportunities for students
UK News
More and more businesses are looking at apprenticeships as an opportunity to help them develop and recruit suitable talent. Since 2015, the UK government has elevated internships to a prestigious avenue that effectively caters to the skill demands of employers nationwide.
In accordance with the UCAS news, innovative plans are now in motion, allowing students to explore and apply for internships via UCAS, along with undergraduate degrees, facilitating an informed decision-making process.
The UCAS hub is a one-stop-shop for students to get all the tools and information regarding the different subject offerings and internships and to write an effective CV or personal statement. The hub supports over 1.5 million students every year to explore higher education options and get training and employment opportunities. Not only that, the UCAS apprenticeships hub also provides a range of research, consultancy, and advisory services to schools, colleges, professional bodies, and employers. As per the UCAS news, here’s a concise breakdown of the imminent changes to further enhance this dynamic platform.
Starting in autumn 2023, students can conveniently explore both apprenticeship opportunities, along with undergraduate courses within the UCAS hub, streamlining their decision-making process. This enhanced UCAS apprenticeships platform will present various pathways for the same subject. So, for instance, if a student is interested in designing, they can explore both undergraduate and training options for the subject and make their choice.
By autumn 2024, students will be able to apply for UCAS apprenticeships directly within the hub. Employers can also manage the student’s applications for the internship vacancies through the hub.
Unveiling the plans in light of the National Apprenticeship Week, Education Secretary, Gillian Keegan, said, “This National Apprenticeship Week, I hope more people learn about the incredible opportunities available in everything from engineering to accountancy, healthcare to gaming software development. Whatever career goals you aspire to achieve, they can be achieved through an apprenticeship which go upto masters degree level.”
The UK government will soon collaborate with UCAS to share vacancy information gathered through its ‘Find an Apprenticeship Service,’ which already offers numerous opportunities. They aim to create an all-inclusive platform one-stop shop where students can explore diverse, high-quality options and learn the necessary skills and knowledge to advance their chosen career path. The UCAS training encompasses options like level 2 apprenticeships, T Levels, degrees, Skills Bootcamps, higher technical qualifications, and degree internships.
With the UCAS apprenticeships hub, students will know about the different training opportunities for different courses through one platform, making their training hunt seamless and easy. This move will not just revolutionise UCAS internships but also establish a genuine parity by aligning these choices with traditional academic courses. Besides students, employers, too, will benefit by gaining access to highly-skilled talent and making their internship recruitment process smooth. In addition, This initiative is surely going to empower thousands of students to get high-quality apprenticeship opportunities.
Collaboration with UCAS is already well underway, and enhancements to the ‘Find an Apprenticeship Site’ and the student Hub are anticipated to be implemented by autumn 2023.
