US Universities Now Validate TOEFL Scores Through Indian Study Abroad Partners
USA News
In emerging TOEFL news, universities in the USA are set to introduce a new process to verify your TOEFL validity by validating applicants’ TOEFL scores through their study abroad partners and agents. The organizing body of the TOEFL exam, Educational Testing Service, has entered a partnership with Career Mosaic, a leading education consulting agency responsible for international student recruitment in South Asia. The move is set to enhance the credibility of international students' applications and aid hopeful students to study abroad in the US.
The TOEFL exam is a standardized test accrediting students with an English language proficiency score.
From this week, US universities will have access to validated TOEFL scores for all Indian students. This move will help ease the burden on the US administrative services and lead to a smoother application process.
Sachin Jain, the country manager of ETS India and South Asia, expressed his aspirations for the upcoming project,” We are excited to partner with Career Mosaic to verify TOEFL scores of US university applicants, enhancing the university's trust in the scores submitted. This collaboration underscores the joint commitment of both organizations in providing universities with reliable and efficient solutions for evaluating the English language proficiency of prospective students,"
In its bid to ease the process for both the universities and the students, ETS introduced a newer format of the TOEFL exam in 2023 where the 60-year-old test had reduced its test duration to two hours instead of three and allowed students to see their test results upon the completion of the exam. Therefore, ETS has now rolled out the TOEFL validity parameter for US universities.
“The TOEFL score verification services offered by ETS through Career Mosaic in India can significantly enhance the credibility of student profiles shared with US Institutions. This association will reinforce the integrity of the TOEFL test score and will benefit both universities and the growing number of Indian students seeking higher education opportunities in the USA,” Manisha Zaveri, joint managing director of Career Mosaic, comments on their upcoming venture.
The universities have established their say on the matter, too. Blerina Polovina, the director of international admissions at Webster University, welcomed the change and expressed how helpful it would be to streamline the enrollment process.
“By having validated scores, universities will save the effort of English proficiency score verification, ultimately fostering a more seamless and reliable admissions experience for both students and universities alike,” she added.
In the most recent numbers in TOEFL news, the number of TOEFL applicants in India has seen a 59% surge in lieu of the resumption of international travel post the COVID-19 pandemic.
