What is Accommodation?
It’s a top-quality Huntsville community designed especially with Sam Houston State University students in mind. Accommodation features a variety of spacious, furnished apartments plus a full set of community features such as a resort-style pool, fitness center, community clubhouse and more.
Is Accommodation part of Sam Houston State University?
Accommodation is a privately owned and professionally managed community.
Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?
You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.
What are per-person contracts?
Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at Accommodation has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom.
What is included in the rate?
Each resident at Accommodation pays a flat rate that includes:

What size are the apartments?
The spacious accommodations at Accommodation include 1, 3 and 4 bedroom apartments, and with a private bedroom-bathroom suite for each resident. Two-story townhomes are also available.
Are the apartments furnished?
Yes, all apartments at 18 Seventy Nine have a furniture package that includes a full-size bed, desk and chair, and dresser drawers in each bedroom. The living area includes a sofa, chair, ottoman, entertainment stand and barstools. To see a sample of the furniture and other finishes, please visit our model apartment.
When do the contracts start and end?
The standard term is August 18, 2023 to July 29, 2024, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Limited alternate dates are available; please inquire with our staff. Click here for a sample agreement.
Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?
Within 7 days after a Housing Agreement is signed, each resident is required to do one of two things: provide a qualifying guarantor (often a parent), or pre-pay the final 2 installments.
Can I pay by credit card?
Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. Accommodation also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.
Will my financial aid cover charges at Accommodation?
Your living costs at Accommodation can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at Accommodation. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.
Is Accommodation open to non-students?
Nearly all the residents at Accommodation are students at Sam Houston State University. The per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Nonetheless, Accommodation is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from non-students. Family members are welcome as well, subject to occupancy limits. Because of the need to match student roommates, non-students must apply together with enough roommates to fill the desired residence.
What kind of safety and security are provided?
Accommodation has a monitored fire-sprinkler system, along with individually locking bedroom doors. Management staff are also available 24×7 and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.
What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?
Accommodation is a pet-friendly community, subject to limits on animals and breeds. The community is smoke-free in all indoor and adjacent spaces. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of roommates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.
Can I park my vehicle at Accommodation?
Accommodation offers free on-site parking, as well as optional reserved parking for an additional cost.
What other transportation options will I have?
A shuttle bus picks up right in front of the community and runs to the SHSU campus on weekdays between 7am and 6pm, during Fall and Spring semesters when class is in session.
