With four lines, Lisbon's effective metro system provides service to the airport, Baixa and Chiado, Mouraria and Alvalade, Saldanha and Campo Pequeno, and Baixa and Chiado (Yellow Line). It is simple to switch between lines because the Red Line crosses all three other lines.

Lisbon's bus routes are very straightforward, but because buses are one of the locals' preferred modes of public transportation, they often become busy.

Lisbon's city planners have worked very hard to increase the number of cycle pathways in an effort to make the city more bicycle-friendly.
