As a city lauded for its rich cultural heritage and dynamic social scene, Seville is an educational hub with a strong student community. Every street is a testament to its rich cultural heritage, from the 500 years of Moorish rule to the grand 16th-century buildings financed by the wealth of the Spanish Empire when ships sailed directly to Seville via the Guadalquivir River. Tiny hole-in-the-wall tapas bars abound, and warm evenings are spent enjoying cool cañas (small beers) with locals at Terraza bars spilling into plazas adorned with orange trees. Seville's festivals are equally enchanting: the solemn Semana Santa processions featuring hooded penitents and the exuberant Feria de Abril, filled with lavish flamenco dresses and sevillana dancing.

Visit the cathedral to be awed by its vastness (it's the third largest in the world) and see the tomb of Christopher Columbus. You can also climb La Giralda, the bell tower that was once the minaret of the mosque that stood on this site. A short walk away, the Alcázar royal palace, built by the Moors on Roman foundations, showcases a blend of rich Arabic architecture with intricate stonework and coloured tiles. Its lush gardens and courtyards, with trickling water that cools the summer heat, may look familiar as they featured in Game of Thrones as the Water Gardens of Dorne. Venture into the cobbled, maze-like streets of Santa Cruz, the Jewish quarter, where colourful houses with flower-filled balconies open onto plazas dotted with orange trees. The well-equipped Xior Sevilla ensures a comfortable and enriching living experience for all students.
