Cloister House is a thriving community for postgraduate students in the Dunkirk area of Nottingham, just a 20-minute walk from the University of Nottingham's University Park Campus and close to Queen’s Medical Centre, making it ideal for those pursuing medical-related courses.

Rooms at Cloister House are situated in self-catered flats home to 7 students, who share a kitchen and 2 bathrooms. Each room is a standard room, also featuring a vanity unit and includes parking and all other utilities, making it an excellent value for money option. The close-knit Cloister House community of Postgraduate residents have access to social spaces at Broadgate Park: The Courtyard, Library and The Lounge.

  • Cooling Off Period
    The cooling off period  is 21 days before the start of your contract for all 44-week, 51-week, and single-semester contracts.
  • Deferring Studies
    If you deferred your entry, you're still eligible for accommodation. If you didn't enrol for the previous year, the system should recognise you as a new first-year student and allow you to book as normal for the upcoming academic year.
  • Early termination by students
    1).You may terminate this Agreement early if: a) you withdraw from your course b) you are excluded or refused admission. c) you have been absent from your course for more than 60 days due to illness and have formally agreed a suspension of studies with your higher education provider. d). You must give at least 4 weeks’ written notice of termination under the grounds set out in clause and will be liable for the License Fee throughout this notice period. e).   • Replacement Tenant Accepted
    a) you have found a suitable replacement occupier who is both an existing NTU student and approved by us (acting reasonably); b) the proposed replacement occupier is not already in accommodation provided by us; c) the proposed replacement occupier completes their booking. This involves completion of all the following actions: agreeing a suitable payment for License Fee, completion of their license agreement and collection of the keys; d) you have paid, all of the Licence Fee due under this Agree

    Guarantor Requirement

    No. If you're staying in an NTU or UPP hall of residence, you won't need to pay a deposit or provide a guarantor. This is the case for Home and International students at any level of study and for any booking type.

    When can I check in/out?

    You can check in from 3pm and check out is 10am. Our reception is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week, so there is always a member of staff to welcome you and issue your room keys. Late check outs may be available for a small fee (subject to room availability).

    Are there facilities to do my laundry?

    We have on-site laundry facilities next to reception for you to use whenever you need to, during your stay. Instructions on how to use these are located in the laundry rooms.

    Is Wi-Fi included in my summer stay?

    Yes, instructions will be handed out on pre-arrival.

    Does my room come with bedding?

    No, but you can purchase a bedding pack that includes a Duvet, pillow, duvet cover, pillowcase and 2 towels at the time of booking.

    I’m not a student; can I stay with you this summer?

    Yes, we would be happy to host external guests as well as students, but all guests must be aged 18 or over.

    What are the occupancy dates? Are they fixed?

    We can make your start date work for you. The 44 week contract dates are 19th September 2025 – 24th July 2026 and 51 week contract dates are 19th September 2025 – 11th September 2026, these dates are fixed. However, if you wish to move into our accommodation on an alternative start date please contact our accommodation team for more information. You will incur an additional cost for this.

    Where can I view the terms and conditions of my licence agreement?

    Your terms and conditions are visible on the Broadgate Park Student Portal when you go to view your offer, you are directed to view these before you accept, and are also accessible on your booking dashboard following your acceptance. You can also view the Standard terms and conditions.

    I want to stay after my Undergraduate licence ends in July, what can I do?

    Depending on availability and room type we may be able to extend the end date of your accommodation licence or offer you accommodation in our Summer Village/accommodation.

    What room types are available for short-term lets?

    Our Short-Term Lets page will display any rooms that are available for short bookings. We will keep this webpage up to date with the latest information however for more details you can contact the Accommodation Team.

    How can I view the rooms if I am an International student or unable to come to Nottingham prior to booking?

    When will I find out my room allocation?

    We release room allocations approximately 1 week prior to your arrival. In order to receive yours, you must follow the steps in your pre arrival comms.

    When do I get my returner discount?

    Your returner discount will be applied to your NottinghamHub account following the end of the registration period (this is usually in November after your September arrival). You can therefore reduce your 1st rent instalment by the confirmed discount amount when paying on the NottinghamHub. Please view our Returner Terms and Conditions for more information.

    I’m a current UoN student, when can I apply?

    Returner applications open in November ahead of each academic year. Look out for communications from us at this time with information on when to book. All returner applications can be made via the website.

    How do I apply?

    All returner applications can be made via the Broadgate Park portal.

    What is a returning student?

    A returning student is a student who has completed at least 1 year of study at the University of Nottingham. Please note you do not need to have been a previous resident at Broadgate Park to be a returning student.

    I can’t see my rent invoices on my NottinghamHub portal, what shall I do?

    Your rent invoices will appear on your NottinghamHub portal in early September. If you cannot see your rent invoices at this time please follow the user guides on the web page.

    What should I do if I do not receive my student loan in time for my rent and deposit payment?

    If you haven’t received your student loan in time to cover your rent and deposit, it’s important to reach out for help. Please contact the accommodation team to discuss your situation and explore possible solutions. You can also check out our payment guides.

    I am reliant upon my UK student loan to make my 1st rent payment – what should I do?

    When receiving your room offer you should select the ‘reliant on student finance’ payment option. You will be required to pay a minimum of £250 deposit and a £250 rent payment prior to your arrival.

    How do I pay?

    Payments for your deposit and rent payments should be made direct to the University of Nottingham.

    How / when can I apply?

    All 1st year students can apply via the University of Nottingham website. Applications are open and more information can be found there. Please read the University Accommodation guarantee.

    Is there any parking available?

    We have a limited number of parking permits available, these cost £330 for the year at Broadgate Park. Parking is free at Albion House and Cloister House, however you will still need a permit. You can apply for a permit by completing an application and returning it to our Reception team for processing. Fixed penalty notices of £75 will be applied to non-permit holders or failing to display a permit. Visitor parking is also available, all visitors should report to reception to be issued with a visitor pass and directed to our visitor parking at Lower Court.

    Do you have any rooms available to view?

    We have an Ensuite Studio show flat available to view Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 4.30pm.

    How long does it take to get to the University Park / Jubilee Campus?

    We are located right next to the west entrance of University Park. The Portland building is in the centre of University Park and it takes approximately 15 minutes to walk from Broadgate Park, 25 minutes from Albion House and 20 minutes from Cloister House.

    How do I book onto an Open Day?

    Open days are a great way to learn more about your course, meet academics and chat to students. They can help you decide whether life as a Nottingham student is right for you. You can also view the accommodation available at Broadgate Park via a university guided tour or simply drop in.

    I’ve lost my keys what shall I do?

    You can loan a key from Reception for a few days whilst you look for yours, if you are not able to find your keys you will be charged for a new set.

    How do I report a maintenance/noise issue?

    The quickest way to report a maintenance issue is via the Home @ Halls app. You can also report a noise issue via the app however if the issue is occurring during unsociable hours the best way to report this would be directly to Broadgate Park reception.

    Do you have bike storage?

    We have several bike stores across all 3 sites at Broadgate Park, Albion House and Broadgate Park. Please liaise with our reception team to arrange access. You should also register your bike on arrival by speaking to our Reception team.

    Where are the nearest supermarkets?

    Albion House and Broadgate Park are both located in the lively Nottingham suburb of Beeston which has many large supermarkets.     Do you have any common rooms?

    There are 3 main communal areas across the Broadgate Park site which are accessible to all Broadgate Park, Albion House and Cloister House residents. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Courtyard – social space located at the bottom of Redwoods, the perfect space to study, socialise and meet your neighbours. Level 1 – The Library – Communal and individual study space with access to a printer located above Reception. Level 1 – The Lounge – Gaming and social space, perfect for meeting in larger groups. A brand new communal space The Loft has also opened at Albion House – a great space for study and socialising.
