Alight is just steps from two Valley Metro Rail stops. Trains arrive every 12 minutes all day long, seven days a week, and run directly to the Arizona State campus. It’s just a five-minute ride to the ASU Tempe Campus stop. Service runs from before 5am until midnight Sunday through Thursday, and until nearly 4am on Friday and Saturday nights.

What is Alight?
It’s stylish apartment living, designed especially with Arizona State University students in mind. Alight features a variety of extra-large furnished apartments with private bathrooms, hardwood-style floors, in-unit laundry, flat-panel TV, and unlimited utilities included. The community offers a full set of amenities such as two pools, hot tub, a 4,000 square-foot fitness club, rooftop lounge, and available parking deck. All just five minutes from the ASU campus, right on the Valley Metro Rail.
Is Alight part of Arizona State University?
Alight is a privately owned and professionally managed community.
Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?
You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.
What are per-person contracts?
Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at Alight has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom.
What is included in the rate?
Each resident at Alight pays a flat installment rate with a utility/amenity fee that includes:
- A full set of furniture
- Unlimited electricity and water/sewer – no caps or extra bills
- Wi-fi throughout the community, plus plug-in Internet in each bedroom
- Washer and dryer in each apartment
- Community features — pools, fitness center, etc.
What size are the apartments?
The 2, 3 and 4 bedroom apartments at Alight are among the largest in Tempe – as much as nearly 1,500 square feet.
Are the apartments furnished?
Yes, all apartments at Alight include a furniture package including a full-size bed, dresser, desk and chair in each bedroom, a leather-style sofa and lounge chair, coffee table and entertainment stand with flat-panel HDTV in each living room, plus a breakfast bar with counter stools. When do the contracts start and end?
The standard term is August 14, 2023 to July 25, 2024, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Limited alternate dates may be available; please inquire with our staff.
Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?
Within 7 days after a Housing Agreement is signed, each resident is required to do one of two things: provide a qualifying guarantor (often a parent), or pre-pay the final 1½ installments.
Can I pay by credit card?
Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. Alight also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.
Will my financial aid cover charges at Alight?
Your living costs at Alight can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at Alight. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.
Is Alight open to non-students?
Nearly all the residents at Alight are students at Arizona State University and the per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Nonetheless, Alight is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from non-students. Family members are welcome as well, subject to occupancy limits. Because of the need to match student roommates, non-students must apply together with enough roommates to fill the desired apartment.
What kind of safety and security are provided?
Alight has monitored fire sprinklers, electronic locks on each front door, plus individually locking bedroom doors. Community courtesy patrols are provided at select times, plus security cameras are located in certain areas. Management staff are also on-site 24×7 and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.
What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?
Alight is pet-friendly in select apartments, with required registration and fee, subject to limits on animals and breed. Alight is a no-smoking community in all indoor and adjacent areas. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of apartment-mates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.
Can I park my vehicle at Alight?
Alight offers an optional covered parking structure attached to the community. Limited guest parking is also available at no charge.
