The Newbern, formerly the Peacock Hotel, consists of two separate nine-story towers bridged in 1925 by a Sullivanesque Style connecting hall. The original triumphal terra-cotta archway still crowns the exterior entry and extends through the lobby as a highly ornate plaster barrel vault, while a buff-colored marble terrazzo floor seamlessly fuses two towers together. The Newbern, a local landmark designated by the Landmark Commission of Kansas City, is one of the most architecturally significant buildings we have restored in Kansas City. In rare and true Sullivanesque Style, The Newbern's details are exceptional. The leaded-art glass transom over the main entrance, cut-and-dressed limestone, carved terra cotta sills, and stunning plaster ornament are some of the features of this eye-catching and remarkable building. Renewal policy

Students who wish to extend their stay can contact the Amber team for renewal or rebooking at the same accommodation. Our team will support the renewal process and help students secure a suitable room of their choice. Students are encouraged to reach out early to ensure they can rebook the same room or another room of their choice at the same property.

Early check in policy

Early check-in requests can be shared in advance with the Amber team. Our team will do a feasibility check to facilitate early check-in requests based on room readiness and availability. Additional charges may apply where applicable.

Payment and Fees

Booking Deposit

1. You need to pay an administration fee (non refundable) ranging between $400- $600, to secure your room with the property. 2. Additionally, you will be required to pay an application fee (non refundable) of $50 at the time of booking.

Additional Fees

If you do not have a good credit then you will be required to pay an assurance fee of $500 at the time of booking.

Guarantor Requirement

1. You need to provide a valid US based guarantor to book a room with the property. 2. The property does not accept international guarantors.
