A recent survey covering 300 education providers across 54 countries has found the UK to be a "standout performer" in the international student recruitment race. The survey positioned countries like the UK and the US to be more 'open and welcoming to international students, ranking them as one of the most preferable choices in the student abroad destinations.

Navitas, a leading global education provider, started a series of surveys back in September 2020 to assess international education hubs' current scenario. The survey focused on the top five study abroad destinations, namely the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, and compared their latest education system after the pandemic.

As per the survey, it is found that almost 71% of the total agent responses recorded (agencies who helped to cover the responses from students) found agreeing to the UK and the US to be more "open and welcoming" to the international populace. Despite being a major hotspot for the virus, these two countries have maintained a 'stalwart' position in attracting international students.

On the other hand, the survey also showed that the government of New Zealand and Canadian and Australian governments have dealt with the pandemic' far better than the European and Western countries, making them to be more 'safe and stable' but less "open and welcoming to the international students.

So, what's the catch here?

Jon Chew, who is the head of strategic insights and analytics at Navitas, stated that the two results clearly depict students' blurry feelings. "For us, our country's eminence as being 'unrestricted and welcoming' is currently more vital than its status as being 'secure and firm' when it comes to its attractiveness as a study destination," Jon said.

"It would seem that the way authorities have managed the coronavirus is becoming less of a deciding factor as the pandemic evolves," the survey highlighted.

One of the most significant points that draw the line between the two points of view lies in the students' perception from all over the world. With the ongoing pandemic and the newly introduced global vaccination chain, students become less enthusiastic about the Coronavirus pandemic in their destinations.

Her Majesty's Government, led by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, has somehow overcome the pandemic and drastically reduced the fresh Covid-19 cases in the country. The EU-leaving country has recorded the smallest number of Coronavirus patients (14,104) in February, which was the lowest since December last year.

Safe travelling norms, sanitized student accommodation, secure campus facilities, and a hygienic university education system has been highly lucrative to international students. Seeing further downfall in the Covid cases, it is easy to depict that the government's execution of systematic planning is working and is sailing towards the right course of action.
