UCAS Application 2024-25: UCAS Fee, Deadlines, Tracking
Let’s Ace the UCAS Race!

Are you considering studying in the UK? If you are unfamiliar with the procedure, applying for a degree can be daunting. Most universities or colleges in the UK accept applications via the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The UK's renowned universities, diverse culture, and English-language instruction draw students from around the globe. It has welcomed international students at universities and colleges since its inception. Let's dive right into this informative article to learn the workings of the UCAS application 2025-26 and UCAS registration!

What is UCAS?

UCAS is an abbreviation for the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. It was established in 1992 as a non-profit organisation that offers admissions assistance, knowledge, and counselling. The website provides a comprehensive database of higher education programs and manages an application system widely used by prospective undergraduate students in the region. It processes approximately 350,000 applications annually! It provides many audiences with online application portals, search tools, and free information and guidance.

UCAS Application 2024-25

In September, UK and EU students apply to enrol in a full-time programme. Non-EU candidates for full-time study have the option of applying either directly to the university or through UCAS registration. Students should prepare for college applications and apply directly to the university if they want to enrol in part-time or postgraduate courses. Let's take a look at the UCAS 2024-25 application process for undergraduate studies.

1. Registration: This can be done via the UCAS Hub portal. Students must fill in details in their official documents, like their passport and birth, to get a username and create a password, along with some security questions.
2. Sign In
: Students must use the login ID and password to complete other required personal details such as first name, last name, address and more.
3. Provide Information
: Students must answer several mandatory questions and fields. All sections must be completed in full.
4. Educational History
: Students must provide details of all their academic qualifications starting from their secondary education onwards, including ungraded results or whether they are awaiting the results of some exams.
5. Employment History
: Students must only fill in details about full-time or part-time paid jobs, not unpaid ones. Students can add unpaid job details in their statements.
6. Choose Courses
: Students can choose up to 5 courses without any specific order of preference.
7. Personal Statement
: Students must explain their reason for pursuing a specific course, why they prefer that particular institution, and why the university should consider their application. Writing a personal statement is an essential part of the application process, where students can use their tone and style to write.
8. Proof of Finances
: Students must provide evidence of their finances and bank statements to mention the funding for their education in the UK. Learn more from our blog on how to open a student bank account in the UK.
9. Check the Details
: Students must check the details repeatedly before applying and ensure the details in the application are correct before saving it.
10.  Get References
: A reference is a documented academic recommendation from a teacher or mentor. Students must submit a reference unless the selected institutions or universities specify otherwise; all candidates must furnish references.
11.  Pay Application Fee
: This is the final step in the application process. Students must pay the application fee for the anticipated course/courses before sending the application through the UCAS application 2024 portal. The UCAS application fee 2024 is £27.50 for applying to a single course and £27 for applying to more than one course.
‍12.  Send Application: After all the details are checked and finalised and all information for UCAS application 2024 is legally correct, students can submit their applications to UK universities.

UCAS Application 2024-25 Entry Requirements

University and college admissions services have set standards for graduate and postgraduate courses depending on the subject, course, and administration. For these courses to fit in, students must have the necessary skills and knowledge to finish them effectively. Some requirements are;‍

1. Most universities or colleges convert A levels, Advanced Highers, or equivalent-level qualifications into Tariff points. Students are expected to have pre-16 qualifications, such as GCSE English and Maths.

2. Applications can be pretty competitive, so students must check out the course descriptions, where universities mention the skills, interests, or experience needed for the course.

3. An admissions test depends entirely on the university, so students must check prior.

4. Students must be prepared for all the common interview questions or have a portfolio, and they will let them know via UCAS Tracking if universities have invited them for the interview.

There is a possibility of health, financial, or Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) or Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) checks to scan a student's criminal record.

What Happens if Students Lack the Necessary Credentials?

Students need not worry if they lack the necessary credentials. They can contact the chosen universities or colleges if they have relevant skills, experience, and aptitudes to meet the entry requirements. Students can get accreditation for life and work experience:

1. Accreditation of prior learning (APL) is a credit awarded for self-directed study, work, or training that shows broader education.

2. (APEL) Accreditation of prior experiential learning is an extension of the accreditation of previous knowledge that includes assessed learning from life and work experience.

Late UCAS 2025-26 Applications and Clearing

Students can apply to their preferred programme even if they miss a crucial UCAS application deadline in 2024-2025. If a student

1. Hasn't received an offer

2. Has changed their mind

3. Denied their position in a previously chosen programme, or

4. Has missed the primary deadline

UCAS registration offers an option called "UCAS Clearing". This option is open from July through October.

1. Consult with a college admission consulting service to determine the courses of your interest.

2. Go through the UCAS application 2024-25 list of courses to check the vacancies.

3. Contact the universities to confirm if they'll consider you for admission.

4. Provide your clearing number from your UCAS application 2024-25 profile.

5. When the university accepts your application, you will receive an informal offer over the phone.

6. Take your school's permission, and add only one clearing choice to your UCAS application 2024-35 online.

7. The offer will be confirmed once the school accepts you through the UCAS registration site, at which point you can begin preparing for your studies.

steps for UCAS clearing

Deferring a UCAS Application

For UCAS application 2024-25, deferred entries indicate that students want to delay starting their studies. If students wish to take a gap, have changed their minds about their studies, or need more time to think, they can delay starting their studies at a university for up to a year. Many students defer their post-secondary studies, take a gap year to travel, obtain work experience, or fulfil other obligations because they have other commitments that interfere with their studies.

If students choose to defer their studies, they must mark the deferring choice while sending their UCAS application 2024-25. Then, they need to confirm deferral approval directly with the universities that accept them.

How Many Universities can Students Apply to Through the UCAS Application 2024-25?

Students can apply to 5 universities or courses in their initial UCAS application 2024-25, but there are a few exceptions. If they wish to choose two courses at the same university, it will be counted as two of their five choices. It explains to students how to accept or decline an offer. Students can select any two of their chosen courses when they've acquired replies from all of the courses or universities, and they can refuse the rest of their courses. Also, check out our blog to find out the easiest and hardest universities to get into the UK.

Courses Through UCAS

While applying, you can choose up to 5 courses. Still, there's no preference order, and your chosen institutions won't know where else you've applied until you reply to any offers you receive. However, there are certain subjects, such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or veterinary science, where you can only apply to a maximum of four courses in any of those fields. It's important to note that you can add more choices later, but you cannot exceed five. Additionally, if you're interested in studying at the University of Oxford or the University of Cambridge, you can usually only apply to one course. However, there are some exceptions, such as if you'll be a graduate at the start of the course. You're applying for graduate medicine at the University of Cambridge; you could then also apply to medicine at Cambridge, as well as graduate medicine at the University of Oxford.‍

UCAS Application Deadline 2024-25

Most undergraduate applications must be submitted on September 3, 2024. The "equal consideration" deadline is the name given to this date. Due to the equal consideration deadline, course providers must treat all applications equally. Although they are not required to do so, schools and universities may do so if there are openings after the deadline has passed and the applications submitted on time have been taken into account. The deadline to apply for 2024 admittance to Oxford, Cambridge, or a programme in medicine, dentistry, or veterinary medicine is October 15, 2024, by 6 P.M. Universities and colleges could consider taking in applications after the due date, but any applications not submitted by June 30 2024, at 18:00 will automatically be entered into Clearing.

The single UCAS application fee for 2024-25 will no longer be available, so the UCAS application cost for all 2025 undergraduate applications will be £28.50.

How Can You Track Your UCAS Application?

For the UCAS application 2024-25, students can easily follow the tracking procedure. Here is a detailed description of the tracking procedure:

1. Students must log in to their UCAS accounts.

2. Students should research all the universities accepting offers for the programme of their choice and apply before the application deadline for admission.

3. Students must wait for responses from the universities they have selected.

4. They must respond to offers before the UCAS application 2024 deadline for admission while keeping a backup course available.

5. Students must choose "track" to see if their application has been received or to request a backup.

Students and aspirants can also use the UCAS Mobile App to apply for courses in the UK. This multi-language mobile app gives students an overview of courses, universities, and their application processes.

Understanding Tariff Points

Tariff Points are primarily those that convert academic performance and credentials into numbers. Not all educational credentials have a tariff point value. However, it varies depending on the size or grade of a student's credentials. Higher education institutions utilise these factors to determine whether or not students qualify for specific course requirements. UK institutions use Tariff Points. However, applicants without them are still eligible to apply because they are not required. Students can use the UCAS tariff calculator to determine their points. You can also look for the most up-to-date list of qualifying points in the Tariff.

Key Changes in UCAS Application 2024-25

For UCAS registration 2024-25, UCAS has introduced a couple of new changes for upcoming students. These are minor changes, but you need to consider them.

Universities have informed UCAS that they find it difficult to compare applicants' academic references as the content varies from referee to referee. To combat this, UCAS has removed the free text approach for your references or recommendations and replaced it with a structured approach.

Now, your references need to follow the following layout:

1. Enter a general statement about your school/college/centre.

2. If applicable, enter any information of extenuating circumstances that may have impacted the applicant's education and achievement.

3. Outline any other supportive information specific to the applicant and relevant to the course(s) applied for that you think universities should be aware of.
