The Government of Hong Kong has decided to lift the restrictions on part-time jobs for international students, according to the breaking news of Hong Kong students. Students come to Hong Kong for higher studies from around the globe due to the quality of education and job opportunities. However, due to the limits on part-time jobs in Hong Kong by authorities, international students were unable to explore their potential to the fullest. According to the latest news in Hong Kong, the ongoing No Objection Letter or NOL provided by the Immigration Department or ImmD allows international students no more than 20 hours of on-campus part-time jobs per week.

The new reform has been passed on trial mode, cutting back on all the restrictions put on the students. The new rules were put into effect on 1st November 2023. The reform is on a trial basis for two years to gain knowledge on the impact of the new system. The new part-time jobs in Hong Kong for international students give leeway to foreign students to work more than 20 hours per week, unlike the previous law.

Government authorities have stated, “The new reforms will provide students with a chance to grow holistically and understand the job culture and the industry of Hong Kong.”

The Immd is commencing the process of change, starting with the briefing of the educational institutions. The universities will now be allowed to issue NOL to all international students without the requirement of a separate application for the same. The international students who have acquired their student visas or permits will also be handed over to the NOL.

In conclusion, the new system introduced in Hong Kong for international students is about to add a moral boost for students. Students will now be able to explore various kinds of part-time jobs in Hong Kong for foreign students during their semester and summer breaks. Students can choose to work curricular-based and interest-based jobs while studying and getting ready for the future.

The latest PBSA news also means that more influx of international students in Hong Kong can be expected in the upcoming intake seasons. Thus, more opportunities to invest in the PBSA market in Hong Kong.
