PM Sunak on a mission to reduce Immigrant numbers in the UK

In the latest visa news, the UK government has announced proposed new rules for obtaining a visa to work in the nation. The nation is all set to take strict action to control the rising number of immigrants in the country. As per the latest UK visa rules, in 2022, the net migration to the nation has reached 7,45,000. This rising number has pressurised the UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, who promised to control the number of new arrivals in the nation.

Furthermore, in the latest visa news, the Prime Minister took to “X” to add, “Immigration is too high. Today we're taking radical action to bring it down. These steps will make sure that immigration always benefits the UK."The strict rules for foreign workers will ensure that the rising number of immigrants will be controlled and the net migration will see a reduction. 

Britain has also raised the minimum salary one must earn while working in the nation by a third. As per the revised salary structure, one must earn £38,700 ($48,900), which was previously £26,000. “The aim is to reduce annual net immigration by 300,000 “in future years, but without setting out a precise timetable." Home Secretary James Cleverly said in the House of Commons on 4 Dec, Monday. 

Let's look at the number of skilled workers, medical professionals, and international students. There’s a rise in the number of registrations for Indian applicants in the health and care visa numbers by 76%. At the same time, there’s a drop in the number of skilled workers from 20,360 visas in September 2022 to 18,107 visas in September 2023.
