UK Offers 3,000 Visas to Indians Based on Ballot System

In exciting UK visa news for Indian international students, the UK government has announced an exciting update to its India Young Professionals scheme, applications for which are set to kickstart today, 20 February 2024. The scheme will witness the UK offering 3,000 visas to Indian citizens between the ages 18 and 30 wanting to settle, work, or study in the country as announced by the British High Commission India.

Under the India Young Professionals Scheme, the applicants would have to submit their UK visa application, after which their applications would be selected randomly via a ballot system. The application date starts at 2:30 PM IST, on the 20th of February 2024, and the window will close by 2:30 PM IST on the 22nd of February 2024.

The official announcement on X (formerly Twitter) read, ”The first ballot of the India Young Professionals Scheme opens in less than 24 hours! If you're an Indian graduate who wants to live, work, or study in the UK for up to 2 years, you can enter the ballot for a chance to apply for a visa.”

Eligibility

Wondering whether you’re eligible for the scheme? Here is the eligibility criteria:

1. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) or higher to be eligible.

2. Only applicants between the ages of 18 and 30 are eligible.

3. Candidates need to provide details such as their: name, date of birth, passport details, a passport-size photograph, phone number, and email address for this UK visa application.

4. Need to have monetary savings of at least £2,530.

5. The applicants must not have any dependent children under the age of 18.

Ballot Process

This UK visa application for the India Young Professionals Scheme will be completely random and successful entries for the same would be selected from a ballot. Within two weeks of the poll closing, the applicants would receive an email. The applicants would have 90 days to send in their UK visa application from the date they received the mail.

The applicants must pay the visa fees and submit their biometric data in this recent UK visa news. Only after finishing the requirements will the applicants be eligible for the visa. Upon successfully finishing their due diligence, the applicants must travel to the UK within six months. The UK visa application will cost applicants £298 (including the immigrant health surcharge)

The India Young Professionals Scheme was formed in 2021 and serves as a symbol for the bond India and the UK share. The scheme aims to strengthen both countries’ commitment to improving immigration processes and acting upon the violation of immigration laws.

“There are 3,000 places available for the India Young Professionals Scheme visa in 2024. Most places will be made available in the February ballot. The remaining places will be made available in the July ballot," says the official UK government website.
