Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?
You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.
What are per-person contracts?
Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at property has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom.
What is included in the rate?
Each resident at The Reserve at Mt. Pleasant pays a flat rate that includes:
- Furnishings
- In-unit laundry
- High-speed internet
- Water/sewer
- Electricity ($25 per person, per month allowance)
- Trash disposal
- Community features – pool, fitness center, etc.
What size are the apartments?
The spacious accommodations at The Reserve include 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, with a private bedroom-bathroom suite for each resident.
Are the apartments furnished?
Yes, each apartment at The Reserve at Mt. Pleasant has a furniture package that includes a full-size bed, desk and chair, nightstand and dresser drawers in each bedroom. The living area includes a sofa, chair, dining table and chairs.
When do the contracts start and end?
The standard term is August 18, 2023 to July 29, 2024, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Limited alternate dates are available; please inquire with our staff.
Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?
Each resident must pay an administrative fee within 7 days after signing the Housing Agreement. This fee is reduced significantly if the resident provides a qualifying guarantor (often a parent) for their financial obligations under Housing Agreement.
Can I pay by credit card?
Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. The Reserve at Mt. Pleasant also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.
Will my financial aid cover charges at The Reserve at Mt. Pleasant?
Your living costs at The Reserve can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at The Reserve. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.
Is The Reserve at Mt. Pleasant open to non-students?
Nearly all the residents at The Reserve are students at Central Michigan University. The per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Nonetheless, The Reserve is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from non-students. Family members are welcome as well, subject to occupancy limits. Because of the need to match student roommates, non-students must apply together with enough roommates to fill the desired residence.
What kind of safety and security are provided?
The Reserve at Mt. Pleasant has a monitored fire-sprinkler system, along with individually locking bedroom doors. Community courtesy patrols are provided at select times. Management staff are also available 24×7 and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.
