About Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City, frequently reduced to Salt Lake and abbreviated as SLC, is the state capital and largest city of Utah in the United States. The city is home to more than 1.25 million residents and is growing quickly. The reason why the streets in downtown Salt Lake City are so vast. It is because Mormon leader Brigham Young designed Salt Lake City to have wide streets that could accommodate the oxcarts used by settlers. Originally, the city was named Great Salt Lake, and in the 1860s, the word 'great' was dropped off. The most populated county in Utah, Salt Lake County, has its seat here. Under Brigham Young's leadership, early pioneer immigrants established Salt Lake City on July 24, 1847. They did so to flee their persecution while residing further east. Skiing, outdoor recreation, and religious tourism are the main pillars of Salt Lake City's thriving tourism sector. It is renowned for its politically liberal culture, contrasting with the state's strong conservatism. Temple Square, Hogle Zoo, Utah State Capitol, Salt Lake Utah Temple and the Natural History Museum of Utha are notable tourist attractions in the city.
