Frequently Asked Questions

How do I change rooms?

Your comfort is very important, and they want you to always feel at home with the property. Room changes are possible, but they are only allowed if you have completed your minimum stay. In order to change rooms, you will also need to sign a new contract with them.

How do I return my keys?

Your keys need to be returned by 12:00 (noon) on the last day of your tenancy. When your contract has been successfully terminated and again as your move-out date approaches, they will send you an email to give you all the necessary details for the key return, which could be through a Partner company or a KeyNest location. They will also ask you to send them a picture of your key set before returning them. It’s important to be aware that non-compliance with the key return timeline may result in a penalty of 50 euros per day of delay. If you are planning to move out much earlier than your move-out date and they have not yet sent you the move-out instructions, please create a Help Request and ask them for these.

How do I send the move-out videos?

Here’s what they need from you:
  • A brief video tour of your room, focusing on significant areas like the bed, mattress, wardrobe, and desk. (Please keep the video file size under 20MB.)
  • A clear photograph of the key set. (Failing to submit these items may lead to delays in the refund process and possible penalty costs.)
  • If you’ve noticed any damaged or missing furniture during your stay, please let them know and include photos of the issues for a prompt resolution.
If you’re experiencing issues with the size of the video or pictures, they recommend compressing them to keep the size under 20 MB.

When will I receive my move-out instructions?

The move-out instructions will be sent to you anytime after your contract has been successfully terminated or up to a few days before your move-out date. Stay patient and keep an eye on incoming emails from them. If you are planning to move out a lot earlier than your move-out date and they have not yet sent you the move-out instructions, please contact their customer support team by creating a ticket.

Do I need to clean before moving out?

Yes, it’s very important that you tidy up your common spaces as well as your room before moving out. Give your room a proper clean and remove your personal belongings from all common areas. This includes trash, toiletries in the bathroom, or food in the kitchen (make sure to check the fridge, drawers, and pantries). Failing to do so, and leaving the space in very bad condition, can lead to fines deducted from your deposit as stated in your Rental Agreement.

How do I report a broken, damaged, or missing item before moving out?

They encourage you to report any broken, damaged, or missing items during your stay by creating a ticket. Once you terminate your contract, they will send you a confirmation and next steps to follow. Those steps include reporting any damages or missing items. Please reply to that email with a detailed report and include pictures or videos if needed. This will help them make a correct assessment of your room status and avoid delays in your deposit refund.

Do you include linens?

Depending on the location of your new home, they might provide you with a mattress protector, duvet, duvet cover, pillows, pillowcases, bedding set, and fitted sheet. Your contract will specify whether these items are available in your region. These linens should be returned to the property when you move out. They recommend you also get extra sets of your own.

Are there house rules around cleaning?

Tenants in each apartment are welcome to design their own cleaning agreements as long as the apartment remains tidy and no inventory is damaged. They highly recommend airing out each space twice a day for at least twenty minutes by completely opening the windows. This prevents stuffiness and mold. From their experience, here are some best practices:
  • Sweep weekly
  • Mop the floors weekly or biweekly
  • Wash sink and toilet every two days
  • Clean out the fridge once a week
  • Wipe down kitchen surfaces after each use (and at least once a week)
  • Take out the trash when it’s full, or at least once a week
  • Hang the curtain outside the tub after showering to prevent discoloring
Keep in mind that maintaining cleanliness is your responsibility, so ensure the apartment is kept clean at all times.

How and where in their building do I dispose of the trash?

Depending on the building, some properties have private trash/recycling containers while others share them with neighboring buildings. Always sort your trash according to local recycling rules and never leave waste outside the containers to avoid pests, fines, or unsanitary conditions. These containers are usually located in the basement or at the back/front of the building. In some buildings, you’ll receive a key to access the trash cans. Always lock the containers after use and remember to take the key with you — it’s common to forget it inside the bin!

Am I allowed to have guests?

Your room is your home, and they want you to feel comfortable. You can have guests stay with you for up to five days, provided you are home and have informed your flatmates beforehand. Stays longer than five days a month are considered a breach of contract, though slightly longer visits may be allowed with flatmate agreement.

Who has access to the flat, and how will I find out about visits?

Besides flatmates and their guests, some external visits could be expected:
  • Cleaning staff: Each time someone moves out, a turnover cleaning will take place. They will inform you via email. Regular weekly or biweekly cleaning also occurs on fixed days.
  • Technical staff: Their technicians may need to attend to damages inside the apartments, either issues you reported or those coming from neighboring flats.
  • Facility managers: As the landlord, the property or its agents may view the property if necessary. In emergencies posing danger, they may access the flat without notice.

Can I visit/view the apartment?

They truly value your interest and understand the importance of finding the right home. Due to the high number of applications, individual viewings are often not possible. They aim to provide comprehensive information to help you make an informed decision, and their team is available to answer all your questions. While individual viewings may not be available, their focus is on empowering you with the information needed to make the best choice for your new home.

Is registration of the address possible?

At the property, they understand that navigating a new country’s bureaucracy can be overwhelming, and they’re here to help. Their team can assist you with questions about address registration. Tips:
  • Research the local requirements before applying.
  • Gather the necessary documents (proof of identity, proof of residency, etc.).
  • Schedule an appointment if required.
  • Follow up to ensure your registration is processed on time.

Can I meet my flatmates before moving in?

They understand you care about who you’ll live with. At the property, you’ll join a large and diverse community of young professionals, entrepreneurs, artists, and students. Due to GDPR (European Data Protection Regulations), they cannot share your future flatmates’ personal data.

How are rooms and flats furnished?

Your apartment is fully furnished for comfortable living from day one. It includes:
  • Common-use items such as an iron, clothes rack, and washing machine.
  • A fully equipped kitchen with cooking utensils, fridge, dishwasher, and stove.
  • A furnished and clean room with a bed, bed linens, bedside table, and wardrobe.
