The BIMM Institute, formerly known as the British and Irish Modern Music (BIMM) Institute, is a collection of eight institutions with more than 7,000 students in Brighton, Bristol, Dublin, Birmingham, Manchester, Berlin, Hamburg, and London that focuses on providing creative education. BIMM London opened its doors to the creative industries in 1983, and it was founded in Brighton in 2001 as the Brighton Institute of Modern Music.
The university offers courses spanning the full spectrum of the music industry, from performance, business, production, and event management to songwriting and marketing. BIMM London acquired Tech Music School London (TMS) in 2010. The university opened BIMM Dublin in 2011, BIMM Manchester in 2013, followed by BIMM Berlin in 2015, and BIMM Birmingham in 2017. The most recent college, BIMM Hamburg, opened in 2019. In October 2014, the organisation was renamed the BIMM Institute, British and Irish Modern Music Institute.
All eight colleges of BIMM London feature industry-standard facilities that rival the world’s best studios and education centres. The institute has rehearsal areas, recording studios, post-production suites, spacious teaching rooms, and Mac Labs, offering students world-class learning experiences.
