Tips: Like many administrative procedures, processing by CAF takes time. They recommend preparing your application as early as possible to start receiving assistance quickly. Note: The first month of your lease is considered a “waiting month” – housing assistance is not granted or paid during this period. Housing assistance is paid in arrears (e.g., assistance for September rent is paid in early October), starting from the 1st day of the month following the date you meet all conditions. Example: If you move in on September 25, you’ll be eligible for assistance starting October 1, paid in early November.
