A guarantor may be required for students paying rent through instalments, particularly monthly payments. Students paying the full annual rent in a single payment before check-in usually do not require a guarantor. A guarantor must be at least 18 years old and agree to cover rent if the student is unable to pay. Parents, guardians, and close relatives may act as guarantors. At most properties, guarantors must be UK-based, at least 18 years old, and have resided in the UK for at least one year. Some properties may accept international guarantors; students should contact the on-site team to confirm eligibility. The property management works with guarantor service providers, including Housing Hand in the UK and equivalent services in other countries, where possible. The property management contacts the guarantor as a last resort if the tenancy obligations cannot be met.
