Savills IM invests £300m in three student accommodation units in the UK

Savills IM is planning on expanding its branch by investing in UK student accommodation worth £300m. Savills is acquiring three major housing units from the urban regeneration expert Vita Group to establish itself in the market. The deal so far is said to be the biggest student housing deal this year and includes the Cannon Park asset in Warwick, the Iona Street property in Edinburgh and the Bruce Street asset in Belfast. 

In a recent interview, Adrian Martin, the director at Savills Investment Management, highlighted that the acquisition underscores their conviction for long-term resilience in the UK student accommodation market. Furthermore, he added, “The acquired assets are examples of best-in-class buildings, and Vita is an operator with a compelling reputation.”

On the other hand, the CIO of Vita Group, Ioannis Verdelis, stated in an interview, “We’re delighted to sign this deal with Savills Investment Management. The UK’s PBSA market continues to be an exciting and resilient asset class for investors, as demand from students for high-quality PBSA continues to outstrip supply, creating an attractive proposition for any investor.”
