Salt Lake City has a remarkably efficient and well-planned transportation infrastructure. Trains, buses, and taxis all fall under the category of transportation. Salt Lake student housing is situated in proximity to most public transport. The most popular and economical form of transportation for students is the bus. The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) manages the bus, light rail, and commuter rail lines that makeup Salt Lake City's public transit system.
1. Bus: From Brigham City in the north to Santaquin in the south, as well as far west as Grantsville and as far east as Park City, UTA's bus system covers the whole Wasatch Front. Additionally, UTA runs services to Sundance in Provo Canyon and the ski areas in Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons. Commuter trains(FrontRunner) provide routes from Ogden to Provo and do not function on Sundays. The busfare for an adult for one way is $2.30, for a day, $5 and $85 for an entire month.
2. Train: Salt Lake mainly has two rail services, TRAX (light rail) and FrontRunner, the commuter rail service. The light rail runs on three colour-coded lines; the red line covers the distance between the University of Utah to downtown, and the blue line begins in downtown and runs along the valley to Draper. The green line begins at the Salt Lake airport to the west valley city. The general fare for a train ride is $2.50, and it runs every 15 mins.
3. Cycling: Salt Lake City is considered a bicycle-friendly city. Cycling is a popular option for students who live close to campus or want to save money on transportation. Many universities have bike-sharing programs or provide bike parking facilities.
