The airport, a light-rail system, buses, and harbours are all managed by the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA). Through a collaboration with Metro Bus and Rail, the Buffalo Board of Education offers transportation for students. 25 schools, including public, private, and charter schools, are directly served by Metro. The Board of Education passes have been tailored to each individual kid because there are 10,400 students and more than 20,000 rides each day. 

Metro Bus: Throughout Western New York, the NFTA runs 323 buses on 61 lines. Intercity buses depart and arrive at the NFTA's Metropolitan Transportation Center on Ellicott Street. NFTA provides one-way, one-day and monthly passes to students. 

Metro Rail: One-line rail and subway service is provided by Metro Rail. It begins at UB's South Campus and moves to Buffalo's southernmost point. All rail stations have ticket vending machines. The Buffalo-Depew station in Depew serves the city's eastern suburbs.
