Who can live at the property?

To be eligible to rent a room in the residencies, the applicant must be able to certify either (a) that they are currently enrolled as a student and are taking one or more courses, or (b) if the applicant is not taking classes during the semester, the applicant both (i) is registered to take classes in the following semester, and (ii) is working at an internship that provides beneficial learning.

What are the dates I can make a reservation / sign a lease?

Residents may book by semester, quarter, 3, 6, 9 and 12 month intervals. To view availability, go to the residence you are interested in, and look for the semester options in the Rooms & Rates section.

What is included with the room? Amenities? What does property provide and what do I need to bring?

The room rate includes all utilities (water sewer gas, electric, trash, high-speed wifi, , AC/heat), a fully furnished room (twin bed, desk, dresser or closet, desk with chair), and communal study and kitchen areas.

How much does it cost to live at property?

To view rooms for rental , go to the residence you are interested in and look for the semester options in the Rooms & Pricing section.

How does room selection work?

Rooms are assigned on a first come, first served basis depending on your room type. They cannot guarantee views, floor numbers, closeness to elevators, etc.; however, if you have any special requests, please let them know and they will do their best to accommodate. If you reserved your room directly with your school/company, they will handle all pairing and room allocation.

Does property offer meal plans / food service?

Since property is not on-campus housing, they do not offer meal plans. However, all of their facilities offer in suite or communal kitchens for residential use. Their residencies are well located, so you can find restaurants, cafés, lounges & more near you.

What is a guarantor? Who can be one?

A guarantor is a person over the age of 21, usually a parent, who agrees to be responsible if you are ever unable to fulfill the financial obligations of your housing agreement. If you can't get a parent to be a guarantor, the next best bet would be a relative or friend.

What does property provide, and what can I bring? What size are the beds?

They provides the following depending on occupancy: A twin XL bed, a desk and chair, a dresser, a shared closet, mini-fridge, and microwave. Please note property does not provide towels/linens, kitchenware or housekeeping. Outside furniture is prohibited in the residence to ensure fire safety and cleanliness of the rooms. For a full packing list, please read their student life handbook which is shared during the reservation process.

How do I report a maintenance concern for my room assignment and/or communal area?

Residents can complete maintenance requests for their maintenance team. 

Are there resident assistant opportunities at the property?

Yes. they have Resident Assistant (RA) positions for assisting in managing the building, residents, and general operations, 365 days a year. Regular terms include fall to spring, and summer terms. Specific information will be shared with residents when during application windows.  

Where can I pick-up packages?

The property receives packages/envelopes throughout the business day. Students receive a notification directly from them once the packaged has been sorted by their team member. Residents may pick-up packages everyday at the package room located in basement.

Where can food/perishable deliveries be delivered?

Food deliveries (Door Dash/ HelloFresh etc.) and other perishables are only allowed to be delivered to the lobby. Delivery people must call the resident for immediate pick-up. 

Is there a curfew?

There is no curfew; their residences have 24-hour front entrance security and residents can enter with their Study ID Card. However, they do have quiet hours that are New York City ordinances which are from 10pm-7am.

Can I have guests at the property?

Yes, property allows guest privileges for all students during the regular semester. All guests must be registered on the host's StarRez portal prior to their arrival. Depending on your affiliated school, there may be a guest hold for the first two weeks of your semester session. 

Who can be a guest at the property?

To maintain the safety and health of their community,they requires guests to be:
●At least 18 years old or legally emancipated
●Have a valid legal ID with date of birth
●Have proof of Covid vaccination
●Not convicted of any sexual or drug related offenses




What is the guest registration procedure?

All residents must submit a Guest Registration for their guest, before their arrival, regardless of guest’s length of stay. Guests are not allowed on property until they are approved by any roommate(s) (if applicable).

Daytime Guests: Forms must be submitted at least 1 hour before the guest’s arrival.

Overnight Guests: Forms for overnight guests staying 1-3 nights must be submitted at least 24 hours before guest’s arrival.

NOTE:

●A non-resident may not be an overnight guest in the residence for more than seven (7) nights per calendar month,

regardless of the host.

●Failure to complete and submit the form in a timely manner may result in guests not being allowed into the

building and the resident’s guest privileges being suspended.

●A resident may only have an overnight guest for 7 cumulative nights per 30 days. Any requests beyond that will be

denied.

Please note, some schools may have their own guest policies, with specific expectations. Refer to their guidelines to further understand more specifics.

If I am living in a designated single, can I have furniture removed?

No. All   rooms are furnished with the same furniture regardless of occupancy type.Students can expect two Twin-XL beds, two desks/chairs, two dressers, one closet, microwave, and mini-fridge. Together, the Twin XL beds can create a regular King bed when pushed together, or for more space, students can place a maintenance request them to be bunked.

How do I change rooms and/or roommates?

They offer an “on request” approach to room changes for direct leasers. This means that, if a resident has requested a room and a room becomes available that meets the criteria the resident provided in their request, they will allow the resident to move to that room for the standard fee-rate outlined in their licensing agreement. Room changes must be coordinated through them and the process will vary in scope depending on your affiliated school. Room transfer requests are not guaranteed and not all requests can be granted.They may ask roommates or suitemates who are experiencing conflict to participate in a mediation to address their differences instead of changing rooms, or pending the ability to grant a room transfer, and depending on the severity of the conflict.

When are quiet hours?

Property has quiet hours every night 11pm-9am. Regardless of time,they also has 24/7 courtesy hours and expects residents to respond/adjust to other requests of residents beyond these times when noise may be a disturbance. Please refer to the Student Handbook for current noise violation fines.

Can I bring my bicycle?

You are permitted to have a bicycle, which you may store in your own room. 

Does property offer meal plans?

Property does not offer meal plans. However,  every room in Chelsea is equipped with a full kitchen.  They also offer a variety of discounts to local restaurants.
