Florida International University’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus (MMC) is located at 11200 SW 8th Street, Miami, FL 33199. It is FIU’s largest campus, covering 342 acres & was opened in 1969. MMC houses many of FIU’s major colleges & facilities, with academic opportunities in business, engineering, computing, arts & sciences, law, health, education, hospitality-related disciplines, & other fields. Bus travel is convenient because the FIU Maidique Campus Bus Terminal is located on the campus. Miami-Dade Metrobus services connecting with FIU include Routes 8, 11, 107 & 137. Route 8 connects FIU with Brickell Station; Route 11 travels between FIU & Downtown Miami. Routes 107 & 137 provide links towards areas including Dolphin Mall, Kendall, Cutler Bay, & the South Dade Government Center. MMC does not have an on-campus Metrorail station, so buses are the most direct form of Miami-Dade public transport for students. FIU also provides the Panther Express for enrolled students travelling between MMC & Biscayne Bay Campus.

Student life is a major part of the MMC experience, with hundreds of clubs & organisations. The Student Government Association (SGA) serves as FIU’s principal student representative organisation on academic, extracurricular & social matters. 

One of FIU’s best-known student traditions is Panther Camp. For 2026, summer Panther Camp sessions were scheduled for June 5–7, June 26–28, July 17–19, & August 19–21.
