Why do you need a bond?

A bond is paid by the student to the landlord of the property before the start of your tenancy. It is held by the Residential Tenancies Bond Authority as is the law according to the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 in Victoria, which means that it’s still your money and doesn’t belong to the landlord or property.
At the end of your tenancy the landlord may claim some or all of your bond as compensation for any damage to the property, for cleaning or for unpaid rent.
You will need to agree with any charges made against your bond before the landlord is able to take any money from your bond.
The majority of bonds are refunded in full as most students vacate their residences with no issues.

Students in Walsh Residence have to organise their own internet.

All their kitchens are fully equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave, gas stovetop, toaster, kettle, and plenty of storage. Don’t forget to bring some of your mum’s (or dad’s) recipes to beat those homesick blues!

Is cleaning provided?

All shared apartments (3 bedrooms +) are cleaned once a week. This includes common areas like the kitchen, dining area and bathrooms. While they expect all students to naturally tidy up after themselves, their free cleaning service helps ensure the apartments are kept in a clean and hygienic condition. Your own room however, is your own responsibility.
