About

Griffith University is a public research university located on the east coast of Australia in South East Queensland. Established in the year 1971, Griffith officially opened its doors in 1975, offering Australia's first degrees in environmental science and Asian studies. The Griffith was named after Sir Samuel Walker Griffith, the first Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia and twice Premier of Queensland. Sir Samuel Griffith was the lead author of the Australian constitution, and also played a significant role in the Federation of Australia. 


Home to over 50,000 students, Griffith University offers a full suite of research, postgraduate and undergraduate degrees in the areas of criminology and law, business and government, engineering and information technology, planning and architecture, education, music,health, humanities and languages, environment, science and aviation, and visual and creative arts. 


In addition to being a verdant university, Griffith is also a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL) and Innovative Research Universities (IRU).

Gold Coast Campus

Griffith University's largest campus- the Gold Coast campus is situated on Parklands Dr, in the Gold Coast suburb of Southport. Set in the native bushland, on the land of the Aboriginal Kombumerri and Yugambeh people, the Gold Coast campus currently serves over 18,000 students from all over the world. Also, the Gold Coast's world-famous beaches are located just a few minutes' drive away from the campus. 


Nathan Campus 

Griffith's foundation campus- Nathan is located on the edge of Toohey Forest in native bushland barely 10 kilometers away from the Brisbane CBD. Inaugurated with merely 451 students, the campus now houses over 13,000 students and offers degrees in engineering and information technology, science and aviation, business and government, humanities and languages, and law and environment. The campus also hosts a library building designed by Robin Gibson, two residential colleges and a range of sports facilities. 


Mount Gravatt Campus 

Located alongside the Nathan campus, Griffith's Mount Gravatt campus is located on the edge of Toohey Forest. Catering about 4400 students, Mount Gravatt is the center for research into crucial social issues, including suicide prevention and education and is also the university's hub for social sciences and humanities.


South Bank Campus

Situated in Brisbane's cultural precinct, the university's South Bank campus is Griffith's creative hub. Hosting around 3400 students, the South Bank campus comprises of Griffith's Queensland Conservatorium and Queensland College of Art along with Griffith Graduate Centre and the Griffith Film School. Located merely a short walk away from the Brisbane CBD, the campus is also close to the Queensland Art Gallery, the Queensland State Library, the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre and the Gallery of Modern Art. 


Logan Campus

Catering about 2500 students, Griffith University's Logan campus is a community-focused campus. Hosting several annual sports and cultural events, the campus offers degrees in nursing and midwifery, human services and social work, business and commerce, and education and information technology.
